How did the screwdriver set of 4 slotted/2 Ph come about...


IMO, they could probably replace 2 slotted.....add a PH3 and a longer cab tip slotted.

or substitute the slotted with a butterknife. then add a few torx to make up the difference.

yeah, but you could open a can of motor oil with a Phillips...I still open my tomato juice cans that way just for nostalgia

... and on that note....

Every time that comes up, I always wonder what happened to the millions and millions of "oil pour spouts" that were required to get the oil out of the can and into the engine? Where did they all go?
We sold thousands and thousands and thousands of them - anywhere from .69 cents up to $6.99 in every brand imaginable. If we were shy of minimum order for prepaid freight, we'd just pad the order with oil spouts because damn near everybody had them and we knew they'd sell.
And it didn't matter if you paid .69 or $6.99 for them, the damn things always leaked - didn't matter what brand or where they were made - they were all ****.
So... where are they now? Where is the oil spout graveyard?

Yeah, I can recall crushing the side of an oil can or two trying to get one of those in place. Vavoline #141 10w40 was the prime candidate.

I'm sure people just tossed 'em, some scrapped 'em, and there's lots still hanging around in corners of messy garages.

I've probably got 6 of them...few on the wall, some stuck in some box somewhere...

and I know oil doesn't come in cans anymore unless you buy old stock at yard sales.

you punch a small hole in the bottom with a Phillips and heel of your hand so you don't mess up the label. use the oil. display the can. no leaky cans on the shelf...

plus I can always find a Phillips in the junk drawer. can't say the same for a can opener when I want my morning tomato juice...or a ****** mary...(or ****** shiner as I call them since I use the 'shine instead of vodka usually)...
