Screwdriver's tip or head protector

Wondering if there is any type of head protectors available for the tip of the screwdriver, so you can throw it into your toolbox without worrying.

Maybe plastic, silicone, etc?

how soft are your screwdrivers or how hard are you throwing them into your box that your damaging the tips?
maybe little sections of rubber tubing to slip over the ends would be the easiest i suppose.

Just don't throw your screwdrivers or any other tool into the toolbox. You can put it down in a reasonable manner. Anyway in my opinion, wasting time putting a cap on probably takes longer than putting it down gently.

I know they can be put gently, however it would help to prevent accidental contact and rusting on non stainless steel tips (specially when stored for a long time). I found it on pliers so looked good.

Probably trying to protect a nice box rather.

I bought a nice tool set from a journeyman once and all the sharp tools were covered with those little rubber tips. Reason being is he carried a nice tool bag.

Once you figure out the tip diameter you're good. Flat blades should be easy. I wouldn't know where get the covers though. Caplugs catalog?

I use some heat-shrink tubing- easy and cheap to make a custom formed cover that way and any length you need.

And no, I do not throw my tools down, but the baggage handlers at airports are not always the gentle sort when it comes to a heavy tool box. And I have some screwdriver tips and files that need to stay very accurate and sharp.

theres no way a protector is going to help the tip compared to when you are actually using the screwdriver on a bolt or screw.

There's a reason I keep around the tips that come with my chisels. It does make a lot of sense when you're putting things into a tool bag, or a carryable toolbox. Not so much in a rolling cabinet.

For awls, I'll use a piece of vinyl tubing, or an old faux cork.

This might lead to more rust because moisture might build up inside it.

Also, when most people need to use a pair of pliers or a screwdriver, they don't want to **** around taking a condom off the tool just to use it.

Just curious, do you ever use your tools in the rain or snow? Maybe put a jacket on them so when you use them when it is 0° outside and snowing and the tractor with the snowplow on it doesn't want to start, the tools won't catch a cold.

Yup, that's just a Torx gauge (it measures both internal and external Torx).






These are covers to keep the sprung pliers closed during storage.
