Screwdrivers: Wera vs. Felo

I need a nice set of screwdrivers. I am not a mechanic; just a regular DIYer. I am just tired of fussing with bad tools. I bought some multi-bit drivers on Enderes days and it has been a revalation to work with well made screwdrivers.

I was eyeing Felo Ergonics on amazon, but I have some SYWR points that are burning a hole in my pocket and Sears just dropped the Wera Kraftform 300s (green handles) to $28 for a set of six. Either set would give me a nice start and I could build off when needed later.

I know that a lot of your guys have Weras and a few seem to have Felos. What does everybody think of these two brands? There are a lot of screwdriver threads, so let's try to keep it between these two German rivals.

I have both. The Felos' tips seem soft so they're not in the garage anymore. We have them in the utility room for house projects, you know replacing kid-toy batteries and such.

I really like my Weras (especially the chisel drivers) but they've all pretty much been replaced with my one Snappy ratcheting screwdriver.

I went to order up the Weras and the price went up by $13 in the last ten minutes. Sears.com is so annoying!

Assuming you want to spend SYWR points, then why aren't you considering CM Professionals?

They're actually pretty good and unlike the other two brands you can get them replaced easily if the tips get damaged.

I have a couple sets of Felo's the chisel tips and a set of micro's I like both. But I still use my 20 year old Mac lolly pops most of the time old habits and all. I would like to through the Wiliams green handle set in too. My nephew went through the same delima as you and that's the ones he bought. And he really likes them.

Thanks for the tip on the cookies. I closed out all my internet explorer windows and tried it again. The price dropped back down to $28. Using my SYWR points from an air mattress that I bought earlier this week, the total came to $2.11. That seemed like a deal to me!

Awesome!

Be sure to update this post with your opinion on the drivers after you've used them.

I have Fepo, wood handle set. Use them every day constantly. There is any mark of use. i can pack them back in the box as new!
But I have micro set from Felo for laptop and such, second day one handle broke, third day two tips rounded!!!!
Does anybody now which micro screwdriver set is good and durable?

Recently purchased a set of Black handle Wera screwdrivers. Today was the first time that i used one from the set. Tip twisted badly, see attached pics. I know these are basic quality, but after one use, thats not good!

Had these for about 2 years - pictured brand new.

I am not impressed by the yellow handle drivers -soft tips that twist easily. The rest in fine. If memory serves the ********* ones were NOS when I got them. (German made?).

I sometimes work as contractor in busy diesel shop over here, they got lots of Wera. Again - I cant help it but I cannot see any reason to buy Wera anymore.

Not impressed with my yellow striking cap Wera screwdrivers. In less than two years I've broke one flathead, twisted another and my #2 Phillips looks tired already. Love the way they feel but the durability just isn't there from my personal experience.

Another option to consider, if it fits in your budget - the Williams screwdrivers look really good to me. I like the handles, they look like the old Snap-On hard handles, and they have a hex on the shaft for extra torque application. They appear to be well regarded too. I've been resisting the temptation to try a set mostly because I really don't need them, but on the flip side all of the non-bit-driver style screwdrivers I have are old Craftsman, and if Sears goes the same direction they do with the ratchets and sockets I may not even bother warrantying them if/when they need it.
