I am looking at this set because it reminds me of the IR proto that my dad had when I was growing up, and they took a beating and out lasted most of the snap on screwdrivers, except that someone broke into his truck and took most of the proto screwdrivers, so he doesn't have many left, but wanted to get an opinion on them? what do you guys think?

i'm sure they are EXACTLY the same as your dad's proto's...........urrea was started as proto-mex.

But do you guys think they are any good? Just because I remember them being good when I was in diapers, doesn't mean they were good, hahahaha.

i can't say first hand since i have never owned any proto or urrea tools. a former boss of mine had a set and gives them glowing reviews. personally i think the handles are out dated. but that doesn't mean they aren't good quality!

I can't say I remember much of the handles as I prefer the newer 4 sided snap on hard handles, that williams makes, that is my other option. But I thinking I have been going down the proto road for a while and might try those instead, but I am waiting on a price to see what the difference is.

+1. Krusty is dead on. My Proto screwdrivers are the spitting image of those Urrea's, even the pouch is similar.

Yes, they're very good screwdrivers, but I'm upgrading my box with screwdrivers with bolsters, blasted tips and more modern handles.

Looks like Urrea is sort of an updated-vintage playground for us old tool fanciers, isn't it?

Yeah, the picture looks like they do. My Proto's are quite old though and are chromed all the way to the tips.

Krusty, I'm sure you are correct. Doesn't help with my old Proto's though.

So...vapor blasting is shooting a stream of abrasive that's suspended in liquid, right? Does it give a superior quality of finish compared to (for example) bead blasting? Is VB finer, or better suited to screwdrivers?
