about to start framing my shop, 40x48x16, gonna be 2x6 16" oc construction, very windy area, i know this because it blew down in me in a freak storm last fall b4 it had tin on. It was strapped with 1x4 24" oc on walls, and 2x4 24" oc on the roof originally. when i blew down it fell straight back, and snapped the 1x's on the wall like twigs. So whats the answer for strapping the walls, 1x4's, 2x4's or 3/8 osb sheathing? or maybe 1x4s and 3/8's sheathing. BTW shop will be sheeted with standard tin once framing is complete.

I never had to build in a wind prone area, but I will say the quicker you can get the walls sheathed, the better. Diagonal or even X's with 2x4's on the inside will help a lot. Diagonal 2x4's in the corners help too. If you ran the 1x4's horizontal (which I assume you did to fasten the tin to), then they really offer no shear strength without the tin.

Osb does not hold screws well. If you use it for sheathing there needs to be something behind it for the screws to bite into. In your case I would use 2'x4's.
