Great thread.. I went to Menards and picked up a box of SPAX and GRK screws because of it..

Steevo, you're recommendation made it on my "shopping list" again, next time I'm out at the HD, I'll be looking those screws up..

I'm not sure I even have any drywall screws since I avoid working with that **** whenever I can but I do have a good mix of Spax, GRK, and Kreg pocket screws, in stock along some odds and ends left over from various projects.

I also buy from McFeely's for various woodworking projects around the house. When I buy something project specific in bulk, I usually add one of their 25-25-25 (25 each of 25 types / sizes for $25) deals just to have a wide variety on hand to avoid trips to the store. That along with other small things get me to free shipping on most orders.

With the Menard's bag sale, I need to take a look through my inventory and see what needs to be re-stocked ahead of the coming year's projects.

This is a interesting thread. I'm getting low and need a good source for quality screws myself. I'm using drywall screws for general work and deck screws (deckmate) if needing longer ones.

The home centers seem to sell cheep low quality screws but I've found there deck screws are quit good quality sow I use them. I will look at Spax and GRK screws for my next perches.

Thanks for all the information guys. I stopped at Menard's & HD today and checked out their screw selection. I guess I never paid attention to it or it has grown extensively over the last few months. Both stores have a decent variety of construction screws including some that the helpful crew at GJ have mentioned.
