Scroll saw blades & technique for thick brass?

Hey all

I've used and enjoyed scroll saws at school and a few jobs and just got myself a DW788. I'm trying to cut 7/8" 360 brass hex rod that I'm going to turn some custom lug nuts out of. I'll be facing them on the lathe so precision isn't a premium, but I would like to get the right blade and technique so I don't snap a million of them. Any tips?

Course tooth count and lots of non ferrous cutting fluid. I don't use a scroll saw for stuff like this but do use a portaband with a 14 count.

You would be much better off using a hacksaw.

Scroll saw blades do not have the right geometry for cutting brass and the short reciprocating action requires very high tooth pressure to obtain cutting action.

Grab a hacksaw or cutoff disk on a grinder. While it CAN be cut on a scroll saw, I think you're likely to be frustrated with the process. Heck you can likely even use your lathe on a LOW speed to help cut it with a hacksaw blade if your careful. While it may not be the safest way, it would work and save some energy.
