Anyone know of a sds max to 1/2” chuck adapter. I’m looking to run an ice auger with a m18 2717-20 rotary drill.

That won’t work with the Milwaukee rotary drill I have. Needs to be a sds max

This would cost more and get bulky, but there are tons of readily-available SDS Max to SDS Plus adapters, and Bosch makes those SDS Plus to 1/2" chuck adapters. Buy one of each and stick two adapters together to get what you're looking for.

Like this?

You could also use a SDS Max to SDS+ adapter, then SDS+ to 1/2" chuck if the above item won't work.

I remember seeing something like these back then for $50...

or something like these if you have a spare well used sds max tool that you can spare and happens to be 1/2" diameter.

I have a bunch of brand new ones, it's a great idea but not worth the effort, every crew wants them & never uses them. Most sds or sds max are too bulky & heavier for regular drilling & usually you have a drill handy with a bit chucked in it. It's just not practical, in my opinion.

maybe get an SDS max bit welded to the ice auger? or get a coupling of some sort made up
a sacrificial SDS bit would probably be less expensive and less bulky
I would like to leave the ice drill stock. Plus there are times when an extension is need due to ice thickness. I have a 1/2” fuel Milwaukee that work well, just can’t find the damn handle for it. Would like to have the ability to use both drills if needed.

Would you have a part number, brand for them?

Sure, it’s a jacobs 1/2” model 33BA 1/2-20, i do like them with the cordless hammer drill, it’s very compact. It comes as a kit, Milwaukee sds adapter in stock at Home Depot.

I have a 20V dewalt hammer drill and want to change the chuck, need an adapter that will fit the chuck that is on the drill now, did you find something, my drill has the bits that have to twist and push in and the piece that releases them be’s pushed inwards, so looking for a chuck that will fit this and hold the 1/2 “ molded piece thats made unto my ice auger

nice job, will this work with my ice auger, think the bit that’s fastened to the chuck will be strong enough and sufficient to hold for drilling holes through the toughest of ice conditions?

Just checking to see if you got a working solution, and if so, how did the rotary hammer work out on the ice?
