The Legacy HD6600 sounds like a product that will be perfect for my application. However, I have some concerns about what to put under it. I recently purchased a new home for me with 15 year old concrete that the slab itself is in great shape. I have experience with many sealers; epoxy and polyaspartic coatings that I have applied and had the professionals apply, all with good results. For my new garage I am looking for a low gloss or matte finish with a charcoal or black color under or added. My initial plan was to apply an acid stain and sealer prior to moving in. First time attempting acid stain. The day I received the keys for the house I cleaned the floor with a ZEP citrus cleaner and a rented powered floor scrubber, polisher. I then hit it with 100 grit sand paper with the same floor scrubber. Cleaned the floor again with the citrus cleaner and thought I would be on my way to applying acid stain and then a sealer.
But, there are still two huge black stains still on my floor after cleaning and sanding. I decided to halt the project there because I was completely unsure of what the stains would look like if I added an acid stain over them?? Now a few months later I would like to proceed.
Sanding the stains with my hand held 4” grinder does nothing to these stains. The stains seem to be part of the concrete, my impression is that it is an acid that was spilled on the concrete and created the stain, similar to what I am hoping to do to the entire garage.
I did not want to attempt to clean the stains with muriatic acid, tsp, or paint stripper after seeing the warnings for acid stains and concrete cleaned with it.
I am not sure what to apply now, I am easy on my garage, thou I do drive two cars in and out each day. I have no problem reapplying something every couple of years to keep the finish nice. I would prefer a product (sealer) that I can reapply that goes over the old nicely.
What if I acid stained the floor everywhere that the current stains are not, then covered that with a charcoal translucent stain and then sealed it?
