Sealing an air compressor?

I got a new 7 hp, 60 gal, 135psi air compressor today for $500. I installed an iron 45* elbow (couldn't find one in brass) and a ball valve on top. With the ball valve shut off it has a slight leak, looks like on both sides of the iron adapter. Where it goes into the compressor and into the ball valve. I used brush on teflon thread sealer. Is there something else I can try? I'd like this thing to be tight as a drum, as they say.

Try teflon tape instead of the brush on stuff.

I've had much better luck with Teflon-filled brush on stuff.

The ball valve may not be rated for that pressure; city water pressure is 80 psi max.

I've got a whole manifold of air taps sticking out the side of my compressor; when I first got it they were still building the garage, so I set it up so they could run all their nail guns off it. The framers loved it! The thing would only come on once or twice a day, instead of all those little ones yammering away constantly. The manifold has a quarter-turn shut-off valve, and pipe dope at each joint; no leaks no drips no errors.

I tried the brush on stuff first. I could hear it leak. I replaced it with lots of teflon tape today and it seems better. Thanks guys!
