Hello and good day everybody.

Have a forced hot air system in my garage and it is a great feature.

Looking to seal up square hole anr around the the pipe .

Also thinking a cover over the drywall would be a good idea.

The plumber who installed was contacted but I could not get him back for such a small job.

Have included a picture ( little blurry ) but you will see what it looks like .

Thanks for your ideas

That would make sense. it just did not look right to me on the final install.

Hoping I can fine something to get it to where it should be .

Hoping somebody will give me a good idea on what I could use .

Maybe he forgot to use the other half of a wall thimble like this ?

Figure it might be a wall thinble like this picture ? https://www.h-mac.com/Z-Vent-3In-10Ft-Horizontal.html

To me it should be finished with the flat plate like here ( second picture from the left on the bottom )

Get a flanged collar to fit that banged up pipe section, then make a (sheet metal) square to fit over that cut out (with a pipe sized hole in it).

Can you use foil tape on combustion exhaust?

Call the plumber back and tell him to come finish his 1/2 asset install. This isn't getting him out for a small job, he needs to finish the one he started.

Would love to have the original guy come back but he blew me off , called many times and have seen him working in the neighbohood . mentioned the issue to him in person and he would not stop by to fix it ... nice huh ?

The unit sits about 2 feet from the hole in the insde wall.

Was hoping to get it fixed correctly without worry of any issues down the line.

Not sure if the tape is up to code for sealing the exhaust .

The exhaust pipe is going through the wall in my garage to the outside.

Plumber did not put a tag on his work .

My one idea will be to go to my local plumbing supply store and show them some pics with the outer diameter measurement of the pipe.

Maybe they can order me a wall thimble to complete the install ?

My once concern is how easy the current pipes will come apart , hopefully easy .

My dad used to work for the local gas company ( pretty high up ) in case I need to report anything as he still has contacts there .
