Hi,

I have a patio that has natural flagstone and would like to get a permanent "wet look" appearance. Would love to hear which specific products would last against the California sun and any install tips and tricks. Is an acid wash necessary?

Furthermore, I have noticed some light cracks and missing pieces of concrete between the stones. What can I use to fill in these spots? Is it worth attempting or just run the sealer over it?

Lastly, can the top coats (ie. Polyaspartic) be used in a typical garage epoxy job be used here?

Thanks!

Are you wanting it to remain glossy like it is literally wet? Or are you just wanting it to have the "color" of when it is wet?

Anything that makes it look "wet" will be a topical sealer and probably isn't a good idea in my opinion.

If you want the "color" then find a color enhancing sealer. All the grout/stone color enhancing sealers will work. I usually use Miracle 511 seal and enhance. This will give you the depth in color and seal and protect the stone but will not make is slippery or put a coating on the stone that will flake off.

That’s a good question. I Initially thought I would want a wet look but the way you describe it, the look of “color” would be more ideal.

I am really interested in finding a product that will last for a number of years. The last “sealer” gave me a more glossier look of color but only lasted six months.

Can you use one of the methyl methacrylate sealers (IE - HD6600MMA)? I may have used it on slate tile (indoor) and it looks absolutely great. These sealers are UV resistant.

Sealers used on exterior applications need to naturally go away. If they didn’t you would need a stick of dynamite to remove them and they would look terrible eventually.
