we are in the process of building our dream home and I am wondering what options I have for sealing my concrete floor. the house is about 2000 sf and I am looking to put some type of sealer on the floor to give me some added moisture inhibiting protection. the house is a superior wall foundation with 6-10 inches of gravel under all of it, a number of French drains, vapor barrier under the concrete and the slab is about 4.5 inchers thick 4000 psi.
I fell like we have done a lot to prevent a damp basement but would like to seal up the concrete for one extra layer of protection.
should I put silicone or something in the sawed expansion joints?
ideally I would like a one coat system just for ease of installation and as far a color and finish I don't care because the basement will eventually get finished and the concrete covered with flooring.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
