This coming Monday we are finally going to get the slab poured,is 5" thick the recommended thickness for a lift? I am planning to epoxy the floor and was told not to let the mason seal the concrete with anything,is that true?

I'd check with the lift manufacturer for recommended concrete specs and work towards that- there are a lot of different lifts out there.
I'd do the same with the epoxy manufacturer recommendations.

My FIL put epoxy on his slab but did not have a vapor barrier down under the slab. The migrating moisture relentlessly pushes that epoxy right off the concrete- no matter how good the concrete-epoxy bond is, so please consider a vapor barrier under the slab.

Best luck with concrete work- The warm moist weather in the midwest will be good for the concrete cure. Better than hot dry sun, anyway.
