So, any tips for sealing up an attached garage.

Had to run the hotrod for a little bit tonight, and could not pull it out of the garage, and now the wife swears she can smell the exhaust in the house. I think I can too!

It could just be from opening the house door, but maybe not.

The house wall in my garage, goes right to the attic, no celling in the garage. My guess it is not sealed up real well, house is 40 years old.

I need to replace the drywall and reinsulate on the house wall anyway, so any tips on may sure no fumes can get into the house????

I had the same problem, it was the seal at the bottom and around the door between the garage and the house. I've also found that if there are fumes in the garage and the wife is at home you never open the door or there will be bitching.

Going through a garage remodel where one side of the garage shares a wall with my dining room, kitchen and living room. I removed all the drywall from the garage and put in new insulation. One of the things I noticed is cold air coming in through the electrical outlets on that shared wall when the heater is on - negative pressure pulls that cold air in. I bought fire rated foam and used it to seal the boxes (where the wires go into the box). I also caulked the edges where the drywall meets the edge of the electrical box. Might want to try that...

First, never ever run a gasoline engine in a garage without proper exhaust extraction methods such as an exhaust extraction hose.

Second, you must have a fireproof (therefore air-tight) wall between the garage and the house, from the roof sheathing down.

You got lucky this time. Please be careful in the future!
