Have a barndo shop and wanting to seal the shop to prevent bugs and spiders from getting in. Going to seal at the bottom of metal with clauking for the exterior. Have wall framing inside and want to seal on the back side of the 2x4 before I put close in the wall but Little to no room to get caulking gun behind the 2x4 unless it’s something more liquid base to pour in there.

What’s the best caulking you guys recommend for exterior base? Looking for clear or black color and won’t weather over time. It will have direct sunlight on it.

Can you remove the screws and tuck in some high density "thin" weather stripping behind the panelling and floor channel?

I figure that as soon as I open the doors for the day, all manner of critters are getting in. I just have my bug guy spray it when he’s here.

I have a $30 Amazon bug light that comes on at 10pm for 10 minutes on a smart switch. Helps, but not with spiders. Hangs with Harbor freight magnets. Best to place it above your garbage can, as it will leave a mess. If I’m working out there with the door open, I’ll manually turn it on from my phone. Works better than expected IMG_5716.jpeg

If it has spray foam on the inside I dont see how you could seal it any better. Not sure if I would want to caulk along the bottom outside ? Might trap moisture somehow. What do the metal building suppliers say ?

That being said, I go around the perimeter of my 24x24 detached twice a year with a good spray of Ortho Home Defense an see very few critters.
