I'm looking for a fuel tank for a V8 powered gas air compressor. I see more smaller diesel tank for sale, any reason not to use a diesel tank?

I see no reason not to use that tank. The 'for diesel only' on the tank is most likely to prevent someone from inadvertently putting gasoline in it. How ever it may also have something to do with venting of the tank, so before you plumb it up know how the vent system is used and if it has supply and return line fittings on it.

That will work. A metal hydraulic oil reservoir also makes an excellent fuel tank.

How much do you want to spend ? How big of a tank do you want or need ?

You could buy something aftermarket.
