I can't find where I can figure this out. I wanted to look and see if there was a thread about deck stain. But I get searches for deck OR stain. How about deck AND stain. Somebody school me please.

try "deck stain" (with the quotes)
There's an alternative to the forum's built-in search mechanism. Just go to the basic Google search page and type in:
site:http://www.garagejournal.com "deck stain" (or anything else).
