I select tools as the category, the search craftsman, the select the discount section on the left side and click 30% of more and it doesn't show the current 299 piece set that is on sale for over 30% off.

So what am I doing wrong? I don't want to miss any good buys on stuff I need and have been doing it that way for a while.

Sears' search is horribly broken. For instance when you sort by price, you will see items in semi-random order, definitely not by price. Also if you enter a price range, you will see items outside that range.

I have found the same thing when I was buying some Knipex stuff through them, random prices that were not in order. However, if I found an item that was considerably higher in the group, I'd open the item's page and found the price to be lower, more in line with the other items on that page. I'm not saying it will work out like that for you, but this is what I have found in the past. Their site is pretty goofy.

yep it is a mess. Some things wont show up under a search but will if you look under the category. Sometimes coupons work, sometimes they don't (regardless of hot buy, online only, etc), sometimes you can stack multiple coupons, sometimes not. You can get some great deals with a little patience, or spend a few hours trying to check out and almost throw your computer in frustration...

Their search engine is very slow to update, so a search result price might be lower (if a sale has expired) or higher (if a new sale has started) than the price on the product page.

Perfect summary! That last sentence is spot on.

Yeah, and even worse than that, if you see something at a price you might have some interest in, if you go away and come back later, the price "for you" just changed and went up. Not only is day to day not the same price, but moment to moment isn't always the same price either. It really needs serious improvement. - Paul

You know how when you've been drinking a little too much, and you get that urge to call up your old girlfriend to see what she's up to, but you don't, because even while drunk you know what a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea that is? That's the same impulse you should try to develop whenever you start thinking, "I wonder what sales Sears is offering today?"

There's almost nothing at Sears being sold cheap enough to justify the mountain of **** you have wade through in order to successfully purchase something on their website for the actual, advertised discount.

We're you watching me? That is exactly how most of my online Sears experiences go!
