Folks,

I just saw a Sears (actually K-Mart) ad, Craftsman, $79, 1.5 gal 150 psi compressor. No part number show on the ad. It is red body, shaped a bit like a small upright travel suit case. Handle on top with two dial gauge on the top slanted face panel.

Any good? Junk? Reliable? Repairable?

Sears Item# 00915309000 Model# 15309

PS: what is it with my shopping experience on compressors and floor jacks lately? Seems all lower cost light duty smaller units have reliability problems.

It's oilless so it will be loud and yes it's junk. For that kind of money you can easily get a 16-20 gal 110 used. In the last couple months I have bought both a 110(16gal) and 220(20gal) compressors on craigslist for $40.

I have the Cman one above & mine is an oil compressor. They are portable, good for airing up tires etc. & air to blow things off. So their use is limited but if thats all you want it for IMO they are ok & better than the $49 oil-less ones. There is no dought you can get more bang for your $ buying used.

Filling tire is ALL that I am using it for. I have little tiny $10 cig lighter powered pumps and they work fine except it takes too long. I wanted something a bit bigger (faster) and better quality than the crappy throw away ones.

Throw away is fine, I throw one out on the average of one every 6 years. Which is still a great deal economically. I just want a faster fill. Problem is the next step up from the $10 throw away is quite a bit more expensive. So, I figure I go with something more "serious". If I go that route I want something repairable and throw away.
