The 250 piece Sears kit is 116 shipped with tools20 code. It's better than the Kobalt set which is missing 9/16 and 14mm wrenches.

Overall I think the Kobalt Taiwan is higher quality, but yeah as mentioned the Craftsman is a bit more complete. It's still cheaper to add a couple wrenches/etc. though and have a higher quality set :)

Can anyone actually confirm if this 250pc set is Chinese or USA?

Edit. Thanks 1911. Looks like USA.

The original one is probably china unless it's deadstock clear out. Probably why the other guy posted a lower price.

You can call them up and ask them though if you're getting it in store. Craftsman usa is good stuff but the kobalt taiwan is better than craftsman china in my opinion...much better.

I just got a craftsman impact socket (about a week ago) on clearance with that **** optional rust finish on the inside (totally limited edition). wtf! It was a big boy and about 1.50, don't plan on returning it because it's only on one of the 6 point channels. I've never actually seen rust with impact grade stuff but craftsman china never disappoints!

I got the 250 pc set which also happened to be the last USA set that my store had (regardless of piece count). All the mechanics sets they have are now made in China.

I pulled the trigger last night at $116.. Don't really need it but will store it in my closet for future use at this price. The latest review on sears website dated Fri, Nov 8, 2013 indicates it is all USA made. We will see when I pick my set up tonight. I will return it if it is China.

Edit. Just picked mine up. USA made. All the 250pc sets in the store were still USA made. YMMV

Are you saying there were other 250pc sets at your store that were made in China?

Hmmm...no one has actually reported getting a China set.

I also nabbed a USA 250pc set. After discount code, taxes, and cashback, it came out to $105.56. A SYW rewards coupon (one-time use code) got me $15 in points for a future purchase.

Thanks. Tried getting on this earlier but the item became unavailable before I could check out.

TOOLS20 drops it by $20.

How does this compare to the lowes kobalt set 227 pc for $99 + 10% off coupon?

http://www.lowes.com/pd_338518-2232...&cm_mmc=AFF_CJ-_-4485850-_-1122587-_-10926682

I checked out my Sears yesterday and couldn't find any of the Craftsman sets in USA-form. Both Lowes had only Taiwan-made sets, so I picked one of those up. Kinda bummed some people got USA tools for under $130...oh well. I would have rather spent the money on something made in USA, but the CMan ratchets are garbage, even compared to Harbor Freight. I'm pretty sure the Kobalt ratchets are identical to the ones in my Crescent and Channellock sets. Only thing I like about the CMans is that they are a little less bulky.

It is missing a 9/16" combo, which is annoying, but I have a lone Snap-On I'll throw in there. Other than that, the kit is pretty darn complete for any basic tool I need to carry on the trail. Don't think there are much of any socket gaps, and it's a pretty complete 6pt set if you subtract the 12 pts (not that I have much issue with them in the desert). I figure it will be a good set to throw in the trail rig instead of raiding my chests every time we head out, and I like the plastic because it's quiet. The latches are a little cheesy, although they would be easily replaceable if you can find them, which is better than the CMan sets I have. I'm actually thinking of making a sheetmetal cover with some piano hinge that covers the front to protect it/keep the drawers from popping out when I do something like roll the truck. Other than that, I like the case. The entire bottom drawer and almost half of the top are empty for storage. I can fit a few pairs of pliers, pair of prybars, and a 3lb drilling hammer in there with room to spare. I should probably throw a pickle fork in there too come to think of it.

Yes, no one has confirmed this SPECIFIC 250PC set at $135.99 plus discounts being made in China. Sure, most if not all the various current mechanic sets are China **** by now, but if anyone can actually verify they saw this specific 250pc set made in China, please speak up. Until then I believe these are leftover USA sets.

Yes, there were a lot of 250 pc sets and they were all made in China except for the one that I bought. This just reflects what they had at my store so it will be interesting to see what they ship.

It's pretty widely known that this is one of the last USA sets. I just picked mine up this morning and it is USA made.

Yeah, it's a bummer. The only US made Craftsman sets that I know of in my area are at Costco. One store has 174 piece sets and the other has 150 piece sets.

Well I just got back from picking up my set. It was indeed USA made. All the other 250pc sets in my store in New Philadelphia Ohio were USA as well. I checked all the other mechanic tool sets I could find, 154, 220, 264, 309, etc, and those were all Chinese made that I no longer consider a viable option at that price point. It looks like this may be the last call for a good USA tool set at an unbeatable price.

Ratchets are probably different in the sets (especially if chinese). Don't quote me on that. The taiwanese ratchets are (I think) all 72 tooth and real nice. Don't know about the chinese ones.

Both this and the 255 are the last I believe. I think they're both being phased out for the new and similar 263pc set.

My store still has both, along with a couple of USA-made 309pc sets mixed in the pile of China ones.

Was just looking at it at the Sears site and it is priced at $242.24. Guess I missed the sales price.

Picked mine up from the store that was holding it for me last night. All sockets had USA on them except one...a 13mm (I think because that was the only empty slot in the case) that was completely blank, no size or even knurling around the circumference to indicate metric. :lol_hitti

USA set. Got a blank socket, too. Another was doubled, so that left me missing a size. I noticed a lot of defects in general for the sockets, but the normal-sized wrenches appear to be of good quality. However, the midget 12 pt wrenches don't look like they will really grip anything.

Also, the lid hinge pins are plastic.

I just bought it tonight for $132 after coupon codes and got like $20 in SYWR points. I'll let you guys know tomorrow when I go pick it up. Hopefully it's USA like all the reviews seem to say...

I just purchased this from Sears Online with pickup at the store. I will pick it up tomorrow. I hope it is a USA set as well. Paid $120 as I had some Sears points/dollars to spend too.

Picked it up today - it was 100% USA. Found 3 sockets with no markings whatsoever, just fully polished. Also, there was a duplicate 8 point fractional socket and a missing 6 point fractional, but I'm not going to bother over trying to get that fixed. All in all I'm happy. It's all good quality, even the box. Not a big fan of the feel of the ratchets, but it's a good value for a fully American set.

In other news, it was a just opened sears an hour away, and they had quite a few USA made combination wrench sets. I was certainly tempted :)

You can receive the correct replacements by calling the number on the parts list paper included in the box (1-800-832-7494).

My area has all chicom sets.... some stores are even showing zero in inventory....
