By the way guys - I used the $5 off coupon at Lowes today. Cashier asked the manager - no worries. I asked just on a whim - never hurts to ask I guess.

I just had an interesting conversation with sears customer service. I was told that the coupon in in fact a sears issued coupon. I was also told that the store managers have the right to not accept the coupons. I asked why that is, if sears corp decided to issue a sale or promotion does the stores not have to follow the lead of sears corp. I was told NO, the managers can run the stores as they want and decide what they want to honor.
that answer made me think a bit. so I asked about the craftsman guarantee and how that is handles for warranty. I was told that if the manager does not want to honor the lifetime warranty, then he does not have to.
BEWARE OF SEARS POLICYS

I've got to print out some more coupons tomorrow and burn them up before next week
...

The garden code is 71 or 74, something like that. But the tool code is 9. Anything in the automotive dept. that doesn't have the "9" prefix will classify as part of the auto dept., and the coupon will not scan.Just checked every page and I cant find it. I want to pick up some brake cleaner.
It's very bad policy to first assume the customer is a thief before considering any other option.
I expect that the BBB will be overwhelmed with complaints as will the FTC since they help regular coupons and such.
Not yet, or at least not for me. They still have some decent sales that can't be beat. I picked up a Bosch-cloned router duo for a hair less than $100 on clearance. The Bosch equivalent would have set me back an additional $115. Half of my Craftsman sockets were picked up on clearance at huge savings as well, just because the new sets had a different packaging.I think Wilbilt said it best: f*&k Sears.
That's the thing though, the communication has been so poor that many stores have no idea where these coupons are coming from. Sears very rarely has internet coupons. Most of their coupons come from Craftsman Club mailings, receipts, or Sears Book flyers. These stores and their management have no idea what's going on, and many are left ot jump to their own conclusions.
does anyone know what the department codes are that this coupon works for. I know that tools has a "9" in the product part number. there is alot of stuff in the "28" section that I want to get but I dont know if the coupon will work.
