Just used 20 or so coupons at 3 registers at 2 different stores. No one balked. One guy even asked me where I got the coupon because he wanted to print out some for himself on the Sears computer/printer. Unfortuneatly, none of the 3 stores I've used the coupons at have stubby polished metric wrenches.

I just used around 30 with no problem. My local Sears does not have the metric stubbies either. They also skip around a lot on sizes of sockets they stock. I am wondering what happens when you break a size or tool they don't stock individually? It's a big Sears at a mall too. Only one around for hundreds of miles.

Well the "memo" has apparently got out in my area.

After several successfull coupon usages before xmas, I was shot down at a couple Sears stores tonight. I was told that the coupon was bogus and posted on a somebody's website. I told her that I printed it off Sear's website and she said all I could do was call corporate and file a complaint. I said no thanks.

So I told her i didnt want the socket but I would still take the wrenches. She had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to apply for the Sears card. I told her absolutely not because why would I ever come in this store again. She had no answer.

The lady downstairs called the manager who told her only "one per customer". So I paid, and then walked upstairs to another register and did 3 in a row.
I'm going to get the rest of my sockets tomorrow and I'll carry around the website version.

The store managers just don't like the fac that corporate wrote a crappy coupon and they are trying to scare folks away.

"Somebody's website"?

It's on sears.com's website:

I haven't had any refused yet, and I'm not entirely sure what I would do. My local Sears has a PC for making orders at Sears.com etc., so there I would just pull up the coupon page, and that should be the end of problem.

Assuming I had just one coupon of stuff, no reason why not to run it up the food chain a little, maybe find out whats going on internally at Sears. Sooner or later it will be over, no point in making too big of a deal about it, but no reason for me to be inconvenienced by the whim of part time holiday help.

"Where did you get it" will always be a little dodgey since "Sears" didn't exactly give it to me, I found it on Sears and just printed it out. Maybe that is the best tack to take, I found it on a public area of Sears.com, its pdf made for printing, so I printed it out.

Yep. "It's on the Sears website--I can show you the link / site if you would like" is definitely the best answer to that question. The link is in the public domain, so your path to that website is totally beside the point. The coupon really came from a targeted email to certain customers who had their emails in Sears file, but by placing the coupon on a public server, they totally expanded it's legitimate use.

I also have trouble with my store not stocking certain items. I picked up the full 3/8" drive flex sockets in metric (10 pcs) but they only have 5 of 7 of the 3/8" SAEs and about half of the 10 1/4" metrics and half the 1/4" SAE's, very irritating. I can also not for the life of me find a 20 or 22 mm 12 pt 3/8" socket, or anything between 27 and 32mm in 1/2" drive, 6 or 12 pt. My store also doesnt stock the metric stubbies, or the 16mm 6pt socket that I need to finish that drawer and the 145 pc set failed to include.

49 coups used so far and hopefully more if the deal is still active in 10 days when I get back from San Francisco :)

49 used? Dayum! How many pencils did you buy?

I too don't like how they don't stock everything. I don't like 12 point for automotive work, prefer to use 6 point. They only have 12 of certain sizes so I had to settle for 12 in 21mm and 19mm.
I'm only buying the main, most common sizes until I get to a point when I'll go back and fill in. If they can the coupon then at least I'll have the main items I wanted.

I bought another high dollar item tonight, $9.95 before coupon. I've wanted a pair of the really small "channel lock" style pliers, which none of the Sears stores seems to carry, but tonight over in the specialty auto tools I found a Craftsman ignition plier, which is kinda close.

I plan to take a look at the other Sears with the big tool section this weekend, but I think I am done.

Man, I just ran across, actually took the time to read, this thread. Wished I had sooner. I gotta get in on this and get some things. Got a K-mart close to home, but have to drive about 30min to get to Sears. Can't wait to give it a go and get some stuff. :D

Brian,

I have used them at the Sears in Pickerington, Eastland Mall, Delaware Sears, and Kmart in Reynoldsburg. Like to spread the love...

They are still working well for me also. I too am disappointed in their socket selection though. They are missing a lot of sizes and rarely have it in the 6 pt. I am looking for. Oh well, if I round it out I'll just take it back and hopefully get it replaced with a 6 pt. if they stock up better. I have only used about 6 or so but its helping a lot. I could never afford to fill these sockets in without it.

Well, I stopped by the local K-mart today after work and had several items I was going to buy. Nice lady at the counter said it was no problem if I wanted to ring the stuff up seperately. She tried to scan them many times, tried to enter the code in manually as well and still no-go. Asked the manager and they were looking at the coupon and noticed that the last line of text reads....."Redeemable at Sears stores only". :see:

Guess I'll have to make the 30min drive to Sears and use them then  :)

I used 3 of them so far. I printed them in color and cut them out so they looked like they came from a flyer and not printed - no problems, and scanned fine.

#1. Last night @ my local sears for the Professional Metric Flare Nut or "tube" wrenches. On Sale for $29.99 - $5.00 - $25 Gift Card = $1.49 for the tax :bounce:

#2. Today I was @ a Sears Hardware store and saw that they still had the Std and Metric 10pc Gear Wrench sets on sale for $29.99.
Had the girl ring them up seperate -$5 and I had 2 more $25 Visa Gift Cards = $2.98 for the Tax :bounce:

So I thought $4.47 out of my pocket was pretty good for all this :)

Now I can start filling in my sockets a little better (only thing I don't like is that all the new stuff is laser etched and I still have the old engraved styles)

Tell you what, I'll give you a good deal. I'll give you 3 bucks for the wrenches, twice what you paid for 'em. So, what do you say?:bounce:

The Sears in Vienna, WV would not take mine tonight. The kid who rang me up was ready to take it since it scanned ok but the ***. manager behind him said no and that it was a copy. No benefit in fighting with an idiot so I just left. I plan to go back and have them ring me up elsewhere in the store.

just came from there and used about 8 more with 3 different cashiers. none even thought twice. one asked where he could get some so I told him to do a net search for 'sears coupon' and it will pop right up. by the way, this search does work as I checked to see if it was still posted before leaving work.

Just used four more coupons at a third store. This is the third Sears in the Chicagoland area that I have used these with no problems.

Huh. I wonder how you are supposed to present a pdf coupon other than as a "copy". Maybe burn the file to a CD and give it to them?

I ended up going a couple of rounds with the store manager at the Merle Hay Mall Sears in Des Moines, Iowa yesterday. A cashier called the manager because he wasn't sure how many of the coupons I could use. Over the phone the manager said one per day. I wasn't thrilled by the answer so when the cashier asked if I would like to speak to the manager, I said yes. The manager came down sort of huffy and proceeded to tell me that I could only use the coupon once and if I tried using another coupon on any subsequent days, they would refuse to honor the coupon. In other words, he changed his mind in the matter of a couple of minutes. I then asked him if he had the power to change the Sears corporate policy of honoring coupons with no restrictions. He said yes that he did at his store. A complete jerk who really pissed me off. So I bought one $9 item and handed out six coupons to other customers.

Not sure if I am going to let this drop or not. I really don't need any tools at this time and would really just be spending money to be spending money.:bounce:

But still...

I got to use several of my coupons last night at a Sears while on a road trip. It was near closing and the kid at the register said he didn't mind at all if I got items sperately, neither did his manager who was standing right there and totally approved as well.

I got Professional series Torx screwdrivers in 10, 15, 20, 2 slotted and 2 phillips screw drivers as well as a battery post wrench and self-adjusting lock pliers. I plan on hitting my local Sears tomorrow and getting the rest of the Professional screwdrivers to round out the set.

Here's a tip......if you buy screwdrivers indiviually, before you toss the hanging tag in the trash, pop out the rubber inserts that hold the screwdriver in place...they would make great rubber washers/dampers around the garage.

If the manager refused to let me use more than one or not use it at all I would ask for their name and store number and tell them it was for the email I would be sending to Sears Corporate.

Today, once again, one register told me I could only use "one at a time". I said yes, I'll do seperate transactions... she didn't understand. So I used one for one item, and headed off (clearly to the other register 30ft away) and proceeded to ring the rest in a row. Gotta love the bean-counters.

Dare I say I was at a loss for what I "really need" in the $4.99 - $5.99 range? I'll be getting several small items like drill bits from now on till I figure out if I really want to spend time getting SAE sets of sockets (since I only typically wrench metric).

Any suggestions on some small "great to have" items under $5.99?

I'm assuming you have all the screwdrivers you need? How about extensions/wobbles/adapters in 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"? There are also some nice 1/4" and 3/8" drive drill adapters for $3.99 I picked up last time I was in.

clamps
taps
soft jaws for pliers
punches
chisels (spot welds are hard on them)
they have a nice tape measure on sale for $7.99
replacement wheel for my shop vac
pac of power screwdriver tips
long extension philips bit for a power driver
socket rails

I am looking foreward to tomarrows new sale add. I am looking for things that are $19.99 that are on sale for $9.99 so I can get them for $4.99

Has anyone had luck getting the $5 off of sale priced items? I've steered clear of the red tags because the coupon says no sale items, only regular price. I think I will pick up some socket rails to replace my cheap HF ones, they were on sale for $2.99 per set of two.

The local sears is well picked over and I'm waiting for the sockets and screwdrivers to get stocked up. I have HF screwdrivers that will last a little longer for home use but I will need a couple #4 phillips for sure. Thanks for the list above, I'll have to look at the store closely next week after the x-mas crowd leaves.

"regular" sale prices are fine.

Not valid on clearance, close out, or great price items
As long as it doesn't in $0.97 or $0.77?. They signify clearance/discontinued items & Great price items.
