The last time they emailed a coupon it was a $10 off $20 -
Same thing - You could freely print them out.
My friendly sears assoc (She still remembers me from 3 yrs ago) - didn't even bother collecting the coupon. I probably spent over $300 out of pocket.

Ditto. I know this coupon was also mentioned much earlier in the thread, too. I remember this coupon, I used it for several items I had been needing, most in the $30 to $60 range. I remember buying a $60vise for $50.

With the current coupon I will almost surely go back and buy their $60 die grinder for $55...........'cause I really do need a quality die grinder right now.

I wonder if your clerk somehow gets a kickback if you use the coupons on the receipt? Anyone?

I take it you have not bought from Sears lately.
They ALL circle an on-line address and ask you, very politely, to go to the site and tell Sears what a good job they did.
Of course I will do that, as the help has been very much above average at Sears all four times I've been in there lately.

No, I've been to Sears more in the past 2 weeks than I have been over the past couple of years. No one circled anything or mentioned anything.

What about the coupon though?

Can't see how they would get a commision on the coupon. But it's odd that they have not asked you to go to the customer service sight. Maybe they just do it when you use the coupon? They have asked me 3 out of four times, my wife about the same. I looked through the reciept and two of the clerks circled the site, www.Searsfeedback.com, and so did the floor manager.
All were nice, gracious and doing a good job, even with the return and the tool exchange.

So tired of hering how this should be shut down by people who are angry they have no spare change to get tools with.
Here's how "criminal" it is:
I'm picking up some nice sets of short laser etched 3/8 drive and deep laser etched 1/4 drive sockets for .08 each out the door. I also get some nice garage clips for brooms, rakes and whatnot in the deal.

Does the item have to be $5 before or after sales tax is applied. There are a couple of sockets I need that are $4.99. With tax they would be over $5 would that work? If not I'll just buy two at a time, still a great deal.

I give a lot of you credit for having the nerve of using a bunch of coupons on one visit. Went in today and the coupons scan fine so picked up 4 sockets using 2 coupons. The sockets ended up to be $2.62 each.

used 4 more earlier to get some rol-loc style discs that I discovered that I needed. the girl questioned the coupon and the dept manager/senion guy of the department assured her it was good and to scan it. she then told him it was no good because it was a copy. he told her that it cant be a copy as its printed off the internet. thats just the way its going to look.
done deal

I used 10 at the same counter in hardware at one visit with no problem, I plan on doing the same thing once or twice more before this deal is through!

Local Sears, Orange, CA, talking to one of the counter guys tonight as I bought a nice inspection mirror and the on sale for $20 pre coupon set of I think 9 12 pt combo wrenches in metric (don't ask I "needed" a 13mm), he said their manager so far has only stopped one guy who walked up with like 15 coupons and nothing ringing up for more than 50 cents.

He also seemed to think the coupon wasn't being messed with because it was "craftsman club" , but I didn't press him for details.

Sometimes all you you have to do is ask.
"I have a few coupons, do you mind if I make a few separate purchases"

10-4.....I used 10 yesterday (5 then to back of line when 2 people were waiting the the other 5), and gave 10 more out to guys in line. I've been using the black and white copies just fine (scan fine too)

I have ALWAYS asked. It eases things, I believe. Worst thing that can happen is he/she says no right from the start and you leave the tools or take them to another register. Sometimes it took a little explaining to some people who didn't understand what it meant to ring things up separately (prob. holiday newbies).

Like anything else, if you're upfront with them, they don't feel like your trying to deceive them...even though everything is legal.

That makes sense and all... but at a local Sears store near me *ahem* English is not the first language of a lot of the cashiers. It makes things a little more difficult to explain sometimes.

To make it lok more "legit" to the counter people, did you guys cut it out or use the whole sheet of paper? I am going to pick up some larger fill sockets. 10 should just about do it!

I've done it both ways... when I use coupons at the local HF, the manager dude stops ringing me up and takes out a pair of scissors and cuts them out while others line up behind me.... Don't know why he does that. He's kind of a strange guy though. Come to think of it, all the HF employees seem to be a little odd.... maybe it's the cosmoline fumes?????

I've been cutting them out and it's easier for me to have them in my pocket that way.
I did use two screenshot full page versions I had with me today though.
I did 9 today but split them up between two registers to be kind.

I adjusted some printer settings to make sure they scan as I feel bad when they have to enter each by hand. I want them happy to help me. One lady today was laughing at how all I paid was .08 each for some transactions.

Every HF cuts out the coupons I think, and ONLY the coupons used go into a thing IIRC. Maybe they actually check them along with register totals each night?

Next time I am in in HF I will have to see if they will accept the Sears coupons. ;)

"they"? I have to be honest, I am not really liking the vibes I'm getting from your post. At the very least lets not classify a whole group together.

I agree. Keep it to yourself. There are certainly other forums where you can voice your dislike for specific people. We're here to talk about garages and tools.

Made another run, didn't want to but had to return a ratchet. Again.
However I took the time to buy the slim profile set, the 80 special edition. It was on sale for 59.99, less the 5.00. For 55.99 it was a good deal.
Coupon still accepted with a smile.

the fact is most guys who have access to the coupon are going to use it...including me.
So, that having been said..
Besides, sockets and pencils...what else have you guys been buying?
I've mostly been buying garage accessories.

I have bought five packs of screwdrivers, professional screwdrivers, socket rails, wrench racks, torpedo level, gearwrenches, Companion hex keys(for the truck box) sockets, jig saw blades, tool bags, spade bit set, magnetic pick-up tool, inspection mirror...
Basically everything that I did not need but couldn't pass up because of the final price.

I cut them out because they are easier for me to handle and easier for them to put in their 'coupon bag'.
I tried to copy/paste to a word doc so I could print 2 or 4 per page, but the barcode is not as clear so it wont scan at the store so I gave thet up and just print one at a time again. if it scans I think they will question it less. that way I dont have to wait around 10 min for a manager to come over just to say its fine.

as far as things to buy...
roloc discs, buffing wheels and coupound
(been polishing some stainless and aluminum parts latly

a good 'filler' product to get you over the $5 mark is those little packages of hooks to hang pictures or small drill bits
can always use that stuff

You guys are right....my bad, sorry......just that the mere thought of some issues makes my blood boil......

Back on track......I went out in the garage today with the latest Craftsman catalog and marked out the items I had from the "open stock" lists on each page. I am going to try and complete some socket sets, wrench sets, Pro screwdriver set and get some duplicates of the items that I use most of the time.

This link was posted earlier. Go down the page some and you'll find the color version, 6 per page, and the B/W version, 6 per page. They are all the correct size so no scanning issues. I have been using the B/W version since they print more clearly and look less like a copy. Here is the link again.

When I used my first 10 here is some of what I bought.

1) shorty 1/4" extension with the lock feature+ a pencil cost 30-40 cents
2) medium" " cost 2-3 $
3) long " " cost 6-7 $ bought as individuals instead of as a set that costs $22.00!
I cannot remeber the rest of the stuff, I will have to come back and edit later! I plan on buying the locking 3/8" extensions individually tonight the same way.

I made a 4 up for myself. I cut them out and the barcode works fine if you go directly from the PDF version.

I've mostly gotten small items that are creating large collections now

I'll be getting some more garage stuff like the plastic organization containers and whatnot.

just to let you guys know these f*cking coupons are fake i just spent the past 2 hours with sears loss prevention and the wyomissing police because of these COUNTERFIT COUPONS!!!!!!!!!

Is the profanity really necessary (above edited)?

I went to the Wyomissing store today, #1484 in the White Hall district.
District Manager is Jim McNat, and I spoke with Manager Renee Delgato. She indicated the police were not involved with any situation as described by partsman (what else would she say?)

But the printed internet coupon was clearly posted at the tool sales desk with notes written to politely deny the use of this particular coupon and to apologize to the customer.

I asked to see the manager to have her explain to me why the coupon was not being honored. She stated that they were directed to not honor the coupon. I asked by whom? She stated it come from her district manager (above) via their loss prevention manager (would not give a name). She did not have phone #s to contact the district manager nor the loss prevention manager, and indicated she no longer had the memo that they were sent on this.

She also stated that it was scanned by someone and it was a fake. I stated to her it was on the sears web site, so how could it be fake? Its in your POS system, isn't it? We went round a few times on this issue, but she repeatedly came back to that "someone" scanned the coupon and posted it on the internet, and I repeatedly responded "yes, someone at sears, and on the sears website". She clearly didn't have an answer to that response. In the end she said she wasn't going to argue with me, and went to get customer service # for me to contact.

I requested her name, recorded the information for posterity.

Then I went to another sears store and used the coupon that they denied. (Ha!)
(It will remain nameless so I can continue to use the coupon there)

I even showed it to that store in advance of using it, and asked if they would honor it, and they said they would if it rang through. (it did)

So while the Wyomissing store didn't honor it, neither did I get thrown into the clink or questioned by the gestapo in attempting to use it......

Kudos to you for following up. Your information sounds far more reasonable. It's odd that the store mgr you spoke w would not provide a name of the loss prevention mgr who claims the coupon is a fake. Also odd they claim to no longer have the memo about this........as a store mgr wouldn't you keep that until the expiration date of the coupon at the very least?

It's really beginning to sound like "some" dept within Sears or Kmart corporate conjured up this coupon, while "some other" dept in the corporate cluster doesn't like it. Poor communication and competing egos within the corporate structure. Just a guess

No, I don't buy that it was scanned etc. What I DO buy is that someone at THAT store (ie: main manager or store GM) does not like the coupon and has made little note to put in his store.

Anyhow, I discovered the nice holiday parts bin today.
They have a bunch of no name tools, metal hangers, drill bits for even $ amounts like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc.
I got a couple items that totaled to $5 even for FREE, no tax charged etc.
Comes to $0. "Thanks and have a nice day."

I'll be going back for the $5 rubber mallet, $5 medium sized channellocks, brass bristle drill bits, plastic clamps etc. Not craftsman but good to have around as expendables. Easy to total up to $5 too so absolutely free.

This was all done with the tools dept manager helping ring me up 5 times in a row.

I followed the link to the 6 per page file on slickdeals, and the thread there has people reporting success using the coupon at Home Depot and Lowes. What are we, chicken?

Home depot and lowes? Are you kidding?

Crazy.

I read some of the posts and it was interesting that the insider sears associates said some stores were getting the coupon shut down by the managers if people "abused them". This would be 20 coupons etc. at one register.
I've kept it to four, five max. After that it just takes so long.

One person also mentioned that the Loss Prevention people may get annoyed if you go from register to register to use coupons and tell you it's just one a day.
:)

reading pa
i didnt lie about anything what i said in my post is what happened i had a four year old with me allthough you were treated with some of the same rudeness
sorry for the language but i was very upset with the whole ordeal i dont have a record in 39 years i dont want one because of a stupid coupon.
after reading all the stories of you guys haveing luck i printed some more off and i tried the pottstown pa one and the first 2 they took at the small little checkouts on the side of the store.while i was looking for other stuff the guy who took the first 2 went on break, so i went to the main 2 station check out and they turned them down saying that they are printouts and that it clearly states on the coupon void if copied and refused to accept them so i dont know what to think anymore.
i dont understand how that in some parts of the usa it is almost criminal to use them and 2 hours away you guys are useing 5-10 at a time. i am done with them sears can keep there stuff i dont need the hassels.
