Sears 501152 Floor Jack Rebuild Questions

So, I have a Sears model 875.501152 3-Ton floor jack that I am replacing all the seals on. I have a seal kit that is on the way from HCRCnow.com. I have a few questions that I hope Hiball or anyone can help me with.

1. A screen that goes in one of three holes between the tank and ram fell out while I was sliding the tank off. The screen is supposed to go in the hole that intakes the fluid. How can I identify which hole is the intake?

2. There is a large seal where the tank attaches to the body. It looks like it is a plastic seal. Should I replace it? Can it be re-used? Where can I purchase a new one? The pump was not leaking from this area before I took it apart.

3. Where the release valve screws in the pump body, there are crush washers. The top crush washer has a ridge on it that looks like the release valve gear formed on it when it is tightened down. New crush washers are flat. So, my question is; when I install a new flat crush washer, will the gear form this crush washer like the original one? (BTW, I did not yet remove the release valve`s crush washer, o ring, or the collar from the pump body yet).

I would like to get advise on those questions I posted above, before I go ahead and re-assemble this pump. Anyone have the answers to my questions or can Hiball help here?

Hoping my sears 2 ton was similar enough, but alas, no screen in the parts list.
On the other hand, my seal kit came with a good exploded view from Blackhawk. Which was good because the owners manual from sears didn't have any details of the internals. Perhaps you will get good instructions as well.
Good luck.

that looks like one of the Chinese import jacks.

the intake hole where the screen goes is the one that is on the most bottom, most dependent.

the seal at the bottom of the reservoir / tank shell, I’ve never been able to find a replacement for it. If it’s broken or leaking from it, I’ve substituted a home made gasket such as using RTV.

ive replaced the crush washer before, but never yet reopened that area to see how much it crushed.

Thank you, ajchien. Good info on where the screen goes and about the crush washer. The large tank/body seal on mine is in good condition and did not leak from this area. I`ll put some sealant around it anyway. I assume you have not had a leak after you replaced your crush washer, so the valve body probably reforms that crush washer when tightening down on a new one. Thank you. I will start to re-assemble today.

I finished re-building the pump and put everything back to together. I ran into a problem with the release valve. I cant turn the handle left or right. The gears mesh fine, there is no binding or anything. The release valve turns fine when I installed it. I am wondering if the connecting rod (square part) is adjusted wrong? That square part has threads that can be backed in or out. Any one know why I can not turn the valve?

I had the same problem with my Sears floor jack a number of years ago. I can't remember the specifics (I am old) but it had to do with the assembly in your photo. Something to do with the positioning of the needle valve relative to the handle. I had to take my valve apart a couple of times before I realized that the problem was in the set up of the initial position, not a mechanical failure. Sorry, I don't remember the details.

I fixed the problem I had with the release valve. I had to take the valve back out and adjust the connecting rod. There is another step to do, but I can`t explain it in text. I would have to show a video on how I did it. But the jack is working great again.
I greased the bearings for the rear wheels, greased and lubed all lube points and spray painted the pump to make it look better. Here it is next to my Hein-Werner 3-Ton jack.
