Sears.com Order

Just wanted to share my ongoing experience with Sears.com. It is not my intention to bash Sears. I'm not pleased with how this is working out but I am not worried and I am rooting for them to get their act together.

Put in an order with Sears.com for local pickup. I was supposed to be able to pickup up the same day but didn't get an email that day. Glad I didn't just drive out because the next day I got an email saying it was OOS but they'd ship it to me at no additional cost if I click on the link within 48 hours. Link brings up a blank page though. So I get on Sears.com chat and I'm told that their system doesn't work and that my order will be cancelled automatically in 48 hours. I ask if they can cancel it now and refund my money now and they said no. So I wait 48 hours and get a cancellation notice that says I will be refunded within 5-7 days. Today is day 5 and still no refund. I paid via PayPal and PayPal refund should be instant.

It is available for ordering shipped. They asked me to reorder after it is refunded... weeks later. Seems like it is unnecessarily complicated and time consuming. It needs to improve.

Sears wants to use your money interest-free for 7 days, before giving a refund. If after 7 days, you will probably have to put in a dispute with PayPal.

I wouldn't deal with Sears these days. Especially not on something i physically couldn't put my hands on first.

There is literally only a single store i can go to now (everything else has closed) and it is depressing. I actually feel sorry for the poor people working there I almost felt obliged to buy something after wandering in.

Measuredtwice... I hear you. I put in an order last week, only half of it was shipped, and one of the items that were shipped was the correct item. The other stuff I was told I could pick up locally. Drove an hour to the closest sears to discover they didn't have it in stock. Tried to return the wrong wrench they shipped me while in the store, and was told that they "can't accept the wrong item back from an online order." Called customer service to process an exchange for the correct item I ordered, and was charged shipping for the replacement. I had to ask them to not charge me shipping to replace an order they screwed up. So at current I'm waiting for two separate refunds and two replacement items from my order last week. I ordered 4 items. :lol_hitti

It pains me to say it, but that will be my last order from Sears.

This is an absurd argument that has been perpetuated for years.

Sears has no money from this transaction. It is sitting in banks/card processors, but due to the very short time frame, likely nothing has been transacted.

Besides, what interest? Rates are so low cash earns effectively nothing today

It's weird since you mention paypal... I notice they have removed paypal as a payment option in my checkout page lately... or more specifically since Monday. It's it just me or them?

The last Sears in all of SW Ohio will close by the end of the year. Just about the end of a dying legacy.

This... not as instant as you think, and sometimes it's not even under Sears control on how long it takes... there are at least 3 or 4 system it goes through as a batch process... Not many vendor have it set up as instant, and how fast also dependent on your credit card company as well...I wouldn't worry about the refund, they can't charge you interest on this refund even if it doesn't make it through your system and you have about 30 or 90 days. If you are that worried, then call up your credit card company, pay your statement minus the disputed amount. Not sure whats the big deal on this part other than hassle and sears F-ed up on orders... most likely on your sear's system locally... I still have notification of items to be picked up from 6 months ago... even thought I picked it up... or there was this once I entered my name in the pick up kiosk, it shows I have some baby items to be picked up... not sure...you'll probably never going to find out...

Good luck!

Patient is talking to doctor.

Patient: "doctor, every time I jab a fork into my eye, I get a sharp pain!"

Doctor: "stop jabbing a fork into your eye!"

That doesn't sound right. More likely that the doctor would order an MRI, prescribe a pain killer and 2 weeks of physical therapy, and schedule 2 followup visits. ;) :p :D

It is still an option. Click add payment type.

I used PayPal, not a card. I have used PayPal many years and I know refunds are quick... usually within minutes... sometimes instant. It may take Sears 7 days to get someone to do it. Sears may be slow but PayPal is quick.

something weird if you have not notice... for me, I have used paypal ever since my credit card expired in their system, and I do not want to store my info in their system.. and it was fine for past orders... then there is some flockery going on sears stop accepting Amex, so they wouldn't allow the Amex as the funding option in my paypal accound, I have to register a Visa/Master card and used that. Now... or since Yesterday.. I placed two orders, none of them have paypal as an option even in add payment type both orders are only around $10 and $15 store pickup stuff.... (I really should start my own thread, but since you mention paypal.)

For me, this PayPal tab needs to be selected. The tab is right next to the tab for credit card.

Sears closed all of their stores in Columbus. We are the 15th largest city (population) in the country. Makes no sense if they are trying to stay relevant.

No reason not to bash Sears. I've completely given up on them but if you insist on still trading there I would only do it in person. They can't get inventory because all of their suppliers won't extend them credit. You shouldn't either.

I have a C-man 1/4" drive ratchet that lost the push ball for releasing the socket. I stopped at the only Sears store in the area in Peoria. The guy told me that he didn't have any, and that they had been ordered back in June. He said to stop by an Ace Hardware store to get one. I stopped at the only Ace in the area, and was told that they don't carry repair kits, just exchange the ratchet. I told him that I don't have it with me, and the replacements are made in China anyway. He agreed with me. Then I said that the repair kit was probably made in China too, so it really didn't matter.

I've given up on Sears.com ever since the supply of certain USA craftsman items completely dried up when I Iast checked. But otherwise, no complaints other than that time I got hit with a foreign currency surcharge on my credit card when shopping at a Sears location.

I was able to use my shop your way points I earned from buying the 2 pc craftsman dead blow hammer (rebranded Nupla). I used the points on the missing 1 lb dead blow. The extra parcel made in time at the end of my one week vacation for me to pick up at the border and go home on standard shipping.

I put in a new order today even though I haven't received a refund for the 1st order yet. When I was looking at the website, I noticed that I had additional offers that expire tomorrow and my order would cost $5 less if ordered today.

Got a tracking number for the 2nd order today so that's good. Hopefully, they'll refund the 1st order soon.

At present I paid twice... hopefully, I'm not like the patient who keeps poking his eye --haha! ;)

Doctor: "stop jabbing a fork into your eye!"

FYI: There was a deal on wrenches awhile back on their site. A whole pile of us bought them. I think 3 people got them and the rest of us waited in limbo for eons. Then some of us contacted sears and they said they would refund us, well about 95% of us didnt get refunds and had to dispute with our credit cards.

That's not good. I'll wait until the 7 days have passed and then I'll chat with them. If all else fails, I'll resort to a PayPal dispute. But I hope to have a happier conclusion to this topic.

Can’t say I’ve had any issues. I’m not far from a store and order stuff all the time from these deals.

I quit going to Sears only because we don't have any stores left in my home area and Kmart is down to one in a nearby town but the parking lot is always empty. Everyone in my home area have adapted and we all do not order from them.

I got no complaints, Ordered a set of GW ratcheting stubbys. First order did not show up on time so I got on chat they sent a new set, refunded the price I paid, eliminated the shipping cost and returned the $10.00 in points I used. The first set of wrenches showed up Friday and got the second set yesterday. So two 8 piece Metric stubby ratcheting wrench sets for $21.59 probably exchange the second one for SAE. Whats not to like?

You should have put in a Paypal dispute immediately. The delay is just so they can play with your money and I would not expect them to issue a refund until you force it.

I'm hoping Sears gets healthy but they are still closing stores and things still don't look good. Two + weeks ago I tried to contact them for warranty on an almost new Kenmore fridge. Long story short nobody answered the listed warranty phone numbers and nobody responded to my emails. Getting warranty work on big ticket items appears to be an endless black hole with no bottom. I gave up on Sears and bought a new fridge at HD. No more Sears stuff for me where a warranty matters.

I chatted with them today about the refund status. The rep said that due to a technical error my refund had not automatically processed and he manually initiated the refund now and the refund should be received in 2-3 days. Hope to receive the refund so that I don't have to bother with a PayPal dispute.

I received my 2nd order today. That was faster than estimated. So I just need a refund for the 1st order that was cancelled.

So today my two replacement items were supposed to arrive. One arrived, the other UPS apparently has lost. This is the "Murphy's Law" of online orders!

Uh oh! Hopefully, the lost package turns up.

I still haven't been refunded for the cancelled order. :(

Unfortunately, I have not received a refund despite contacting customer service twice and so I started a PayPal dispute yesterday. I have an email from Sears that says the total amount is to be refunded so it should be straight forward. Sears has 10 days to reply to the dispute. I'm wondering if they won't bother to respond and just let the full 10 days pass. I'm sure PayPal will take care of it but if they don't respond then I'm done with Sears for good.

It gives me no joy to report that I predicted it correctly. Sears let the 10 days pass with no reply or refund. PayPal refunded the full amount.

To others who may be dealing with a PayPal refund from Sears, based on my experience I would advise filing a PayPal dispute immediately instead of waiting for Sears to keep their word. Each time I contacted Sears, I was told there was a technical error and they would refund my money but they never did.

I shopped at Sears off & on through the years. Bought some good stuff sometimes. I would get irritated with them & stop going awhile, etc. They became my last choice when Craftsman tools kept slipping in quality. Screwdrivers would break tips first week, etc. They did have a great hacksaw for $10-15, which they discontinued at some point. I bought a good Kenmore vacuum cleaner that lasted about 15 years. They discontinued it too, with no similar model that I could find. I bought a battery drill that was OK. Bought a new battery and it would fit the drill but not my charger. Go figure that.
