Recently came into contact with a craftsman 15 1/2 inch drill press floor model. It is missing the pinion or depth handle. Called just about every source for parts to find these pieces. No luck. Model is 113.213780. Any info or ideas are appreciated!! And who makes it for craftsman?:3gears:

I would try to find another identical and make 1 good one from two, or get another drill press. The pinion gear is going to be a medium to hard challenge to reproduce for even a well equipped machine shop.

Please update your profile to include location.

Look for anything in the 20" class, Powermatic and Clausing make nice ones as far as I'm concerned.

The pinion MIGHT be a standard size that you could buy from a gear supplier. You'd have to take things apart to measure the pitch, pitch angle, and number of teeth. If you could find a standard gear, then you'd have to make, or have made a shaft. That drill press isn't worth it unless 1) it was free, and 2) you had the equipment to fix it.

Firedude,

Welcome to Garage Journal! Your attached pic above is too small / blurry to see the part numbers...

Do you need to find a pinion because the original is lost, or do you have a damaged one? If yours is damaged, you'd better pull out the spindle and look at the teeth on it.

Anyone know who made this drill press for Craftsman?

They were made by Emerson Tool Company who took over for King Seely when they purchased it. No longer in production and Emerson isn't around either.

In my opinion you have about three options:
1. Buy a different press and part out the one you have.
2. Buy another press like yours and combine the parts to make one good one.
3. Get really, really, lucky and find someone that will sell you the entire assembly.

I don't have a lot of faith in 2 and virtually none in 3.

Short answer is "You're screwed" because that's a really good press.

Hope this helps
