The Sears Craftsman 299 pc. Ultimate Socket set no longer appears on the website. I had one in my cart waiting for it to come back in stock, but it's gone now. I'm guessing it's discontinued, since these were USA items.

If you didn't get a set and still want it, check the outlet stores or - it kills me to say this - Feebay!

Keep your eye on the sears website, they have several items that have gone in and out of stock. But i doubt there will be that many USA made tools floating around....

For some reason when sears runs out of stock, they will sometimes remove it completely from their website. I have no idea why, but they do. Once they get them in stock it will come back.

It's probably just a business decision to keep their customers happy. If they aren't sure they can get more of the product in stock, no need showing it on the website. With an Ecommerce website, there are generally three options.

a. show product when out of stock and allow orders
b. show product when out of stock and don't allow orders
c. don't show out of stock products

Many companies choose 'c' for whatever reason.

That's a bummer because I really wanted to order this set of sockets. That price seems amazing, especially compared to the $500 price of the 308 set. Ouch.

Did anyone happen to download the pdf file with the complete list of sockets? I know there should be one in the box - if I get one - but I'd like to be able to print the list on demand. If you saved a copy of the pdf file please PM me?!

Thanks!

I wondered what "reconditioned" exactly means for a socket set. My brother drives to Austin every couple weeks and I could have him pick it up, but I want to have an idea of what I'm getting before I have him do it.

Wondered the same thing... I would like once, too. Too bad both are about 1,300 miles away.

Just realized my link still goes to mattresses... Just search it, it was there.

From what I've seen, reconditioned is the default selection. It could mean anything from new in box to used and beat up. You can probably call the store and get a better idea.

Got an email from Sears that the 299 pc Ultimate Socket Set is back in stock. Guess it's not gone for good.....
