Sears Craftsman Pry bars

The 3 piece $39 set has been on sale for a week or two now for $19 (as has been discussed). In today's ad they have the 3 piece $49 professional set on sale for $29.


I looked at both sets in the store the other day, and the only difference seems to be in the handles. The standard set has a very square profile handle and no striking cap on the end, while the pro bars have more of a tapered screwdriver type handle with metal striking cap.


I personally like the standard set, but arguments could be made either way. But now would be a good time to buy either set if you're thinking about it.

Either way you can't lose. I have a four-set S-K version of the standard ones (green handles instead of red) and I have used them really hard for many years. They've taken lots of punishment and are still as good as when I bought them new. I believe the standard bars are made by Mayhew, don't know about the Cman professionals. The prices on those sets are outstanding. If I didn't already have mine, I'd be picking a set up pronto.

I agree 100% I have the pro's and my father has one Dominator and they look identical.

While I like the way striking caps look on pry bars, I have never found that pry bars lend themselves to being used with a hammer very well (or at least in most instances very effectively) simply due to the way they are designed with the curved end. Yea, I have tried with the Cmans (they are guaranteed) never my orange handled Snappys (Not guaranteed, and don't ask for how it went with the one handle that went south, it wasn't pretty at all!) so I don't find the striking caps very relevant to use at all! Just my experience.

I think the pros are the best deal. I use the striking caps.

I have the 5 Piece set and have been really happy with them. The've held up really well...

I have just the normal ones and they have held up to days of being struck with a 3 lb drillers hammer and the occasional wack with an 8 or 12lb sledge hammer. The only noticeable damage is the back of the handle looks slightly funny if you look at it straight on. Also due to not striking the metal its much quieter than the ones with striking caps.

I really wish sears canada had a read tool section with the made in USA tools..

The nearest American Sears to me is in Massena NY about 1h away
