So I was at sears today, and traded in some junk ground on sockets, and a stripped out 0 phillips, and when i passed the impact sockets and extensions, which I know from experiance craftsman has said they do not warranty, and out of the corner of my eye I saw the forever logo. Thinking that surely I was mistaken, I started rummaging through, and all the sockets and extensions made in china and taiwan, had no forever logo, all of the made in USA impacts however had the gauranteed forever logo.

Did I miss something or did craftsman start covering their Made in USA only impacts? How are you able to tell which are which after the packaging is removed?

Nope.

Same warranty.

BUT--------------
They just are now transitioning those tools over to the lines that are now made in Taiwan or China vs. the USA lable and locale.

Trade in USA socket---get Asian socket in exchange.

Lots of NOS out there but any warranty/replacement work is a ****-shoot.

Packaging in itself is illusive too. I saw an impact set in 3/8 short metric in the tell-tale red and white China set with USA labels stamped on each socket.

Caveat Emptor/

:)

They sure do (and always have) warrantied the impact sockets and extensions.
The "bolt out" sockets (which are also black oxide) have no such lifetime warranty.

wow that really blows.

I've chunked impacts for years into the scrap bin because I was always told they weren't warranted because they were like drill bits, saw blades, and bits, that the impacts eventually wore out and as sure were an expendable product and not warranted.

oh, and to be clear the asian manufacture packaging, has no warranty... or at least none that I saw

Evlov has a "limited lifetime warranty"; from what I remember, it requires a proof of purchase receipt to exchange broken tools...

Craftsmans main line of impact sockets carry the full unconditional guarantee, at least the US ones do. I haven't looked at the Chinese packaging to know if they do or not.

The American line is series GK and the other is S-AA

all of the GK were USA made and had a full warranty, the S-AA series import impacts however carried no such warranty "expressed or implied"

I'd say buy your GK series impacts now and get a catalog to back up your claim if you ever need to replace them for cheapos.
