The state of Sears and future of Sears has been hammered to death here. The store and products everyone loves to hate it seems.

Sears was the Amazon of 100 years ago.... Instead of using the internet to their advantage, they continued publishing "the wish book" ......

Sears could have ruled the retail world.... had they changed with the times

I really cant understand how anyone who has walked in a sears or kmart in the last 5 yrs not known they were going to close...:dunno:

The last couple of trips to kmart (before they closed), I thought there was a robbery in progress and all the the employees where locked in the back.

The store had 6-8, but they were no where to be found either time. I could have pick stuff up and just walked out the door. Probably would not have made a difference if I set off the alarm.

If I ever did see one, for the last few years, they just look the other way and keep moving (maybe it's just me)

Sears never adapted and walmart ruined them. Kmart is down the same path. I bet the higher ups at both companies really dont have a clue why either.

The local sears to me literally has barely anything but lawn and garden and tools. Rest of the store is like a ghost town and most of the time the tools/lawn area is too

It's a regional thing for sure. I know a struggling store when I walk into it but our local Sears just isn't that. The appliance, exercise equipment, yard equipment, and mechanic tool departments see the bulk of traffic. On a Saturday or Sunday, they bust their asses keeping up with it.

I was just at a local mall store today. And it was not busy but it wasn't dead at all. Probably because it just opened. But the shelves in the tool department were well stocked.

It is depressing to walk thru such a store.. But on the bright side, Your factual yet humorous description gave Me a good dose of laughter. I enjoyed reading it.

40 years ago Sears was the largest retailer in the world with Kmart a distant second. This is what happens with incompetent upper management that doesn't keep up with change.
