Sears hydraulic floor jack does not stay up

I have a hydraulic floor jack, model number 214-50116. It worked well for years. I have not used it since Oct 2024 and find it does not function well recently.
  1. I do not see any issue when the load is < ~140 lbs, meaning I can pump up the jack head and it stays up until I release the pressure
  2. I cannot pump up my sedan; the jack head moves up but is pressed down slowly
I tried bleeding air for 10 cycles but the jack remains dysfunctional. (I heard a little bubbling.) Should I keep bleeding?

I have uploaded a picture below. What is the purpose of the screw bolt at the bottom right please? Another screw bolt has been removed and is invisible in the picture. I think it is the safety limit valve but am not sure. Can I adjust or turn it?

What is the Allen Key bolt at the bottom left please?

Thanks,
Kevin

The internal seals have failed and will need to be replaced.
Are you suggesting all seals or any particular one should be replaced please? I am amateur and hesitate to disassemble it.

Thanks,
Kevin

I would order the kit but may just be the main piston seal and find a parts break down to help with servicing

There are posts by me and others for similar Sears floor jacks. You should read those attachments for info.

I think you undid the pressure relief spring setting (right port). Unlikely you counted the number of turns it was set to.

I would guess the main piston seal (u-cup) failed. It probably is in many pieces and you want to get all those pieces out by draining, blowing out, flushing.

Take the piston nut off from the tube to inspect.

Several companies have posted on GJ offering seal kits by jack part #.

I openned the right port as I was unable to identify the root cause. I did count the number of turns as advised by some videos on YouTube. Any way I was able to tight it back to the original state. The floor jack remains dysfunctional without any visible leak in the right port still.

I bought a seal replacement kit for Model # 214-50136 as shown in the attached picture because I could not find anything for Model # 214-50116. The internet tells me that Model # 214-50116 is the regular jack and Model # 214-50136 is the low-profile version. Thus, I think the kit might work for both models. I see a diagram of all parts in the kit and feel the work should be straight-forward, but you never know.

It's cold in my area; I do not have the courage to disassemble the jack now, but I plan to do it when the it gets warmer next year.

Thanks,
Kevin

The pressure relief port shouldn't show any leakage if the main piston seal is leaking.

Good that you counted the turns and put back the same amount.

It sounds like the main piston seal is leaking. I will revert when working on this (probably in May) next year.

Thanks,
Kevin
