Yes, it's made in Japan and parts are readily available for rebuild. How much is the asking price?

My dad has had one of those for as long as I can remember, never an issue. The new version is under $100, though probably of dubious origin.

If NOS, the seals may need to be replaced. Using a jack lubricates the seals, therefore better for a jack to have periodic usage than sit unused.

You have just answered my question about why my 2 1/2 ton Omega (Snap On Sourced) jack will not lower under its own weight.

It lifts and holds, but it will not fall without a nudge to start it moving, despite lubricating the ram, and all the pivot points with Fluid Film.

I have that same jack.. it was given to me by my GF 30 years ago give or take. it just started bleeding down this past year. I plan to rebuild it this winter if I can find a kit. its been a good one..

I will have to look at that, to be honest, I always thought that the lift arm would fall under its own weight.
