Ok so this post turned into a bit of a rant. Thanks for letting me vent.
Cliff notes I made an order from Sears online marketplace. In other words 3rd party vendors who advertise/sell stuff threw sears website. Turns out the one I ordered from is a scammer who never sent anything to me. Contacting sears several times I just got the runaround until my last recourse was to issue a dispute on the payment threw my credit card. Shame on Sears for allowing a scammer to operate on their site.
end cliff notes
I found that my laptop is not cutting the mustard for online certs at work. So I started looking around for a new one. I found a nice deal on a toshiba from sears online. It was a "Marketplace item" That means it is from a 3rd party vendor who is aloud to sell items on the official sears website. It even goes threw the standart sears checkout. I've ordered some marketplace items before without problem so I went ahead and clicked buy.
While at work a few days later I checked the tracking number and saw it said delivered *Yay* to Casleton ND *WHAT* I live in Baltimore MD... Told myself that I just got someone elses tracking info and it would be on the porch when I got home, nope. Called sears, they confirmed the tracking said it was delivered to the wrong state.
Then I found the problem with ordering a marketplace item, Sears doesn't take responsability for them. They tell you that they will contact the vendor and you will get a response within 2 days. I did get a fast response stateing another laptop would be sent out right away but got no tracking info. I sent a couple of emails asking for tracking but got no response. If you call the line just rings forever. When you contact Sears you are pretty much told its on the vender and if you ask to cancle the order again you are refered to the "vendor"
Now when I look on the sears site this particular vendor has been deleated. As of now I am guessing this is a fly by night scam, They set up a co. made a bunch of sales then closed account and took off with the cash without sending out product. I take it that Sears knows about the problem since you cannot find the vendor on the site anymore.
The saddest part to me is Sears doesn't seem to be taking any responsabilaty for this. I should think a reputable co. would like to be proactive on news of a situation like this. Doing everything they can to make it right for the customers that got scammed on their site. But no I just get the run around and different scrippted answers smh. I pushed for a resolution today for I have spent to much time being brushed off. We all know this tactic, tell someone to wait enough times and they will eventully give up because it is no longer worth the hassle. The only thing they could say is wait 48 hrs.
So with no help from them I called up my credit card co. *Discover* to dispute the payment. They were very friendly took my info down and assured me this will be taken care of asap. Sears should take notes from them I think.
again thank you for letting me vent and beware of "Marketplace" sellers
