Just ordered 4 tires for the wife from Sears. 215-60-16 Michelin Defender (90,000 mile warranty) for 108.00 plus tax with FREE SHIPPING?!!!

I am gonna take these to some local guys that will mount/balance them all for 32.00 cash.

I feel dirty and cheap.

Why would anyone want to have a third party mount and balance your tires? Almost all major tire retailers offer free lifetime rotation and balancing when purchasing the tires. I've had good luck purchasing from Firestone (buy 3 get one free).

All major chains that I know offer free mounting, but charge for everything else. It's typically $16-$35 each wheel for balancing, valve stem, tire disposal, shop fee, warranty cost recovery fee, etc. Add $10-$15 on top of that for TPMS "service" (a few extra second to avoid breaking it off during mounting, inspection, perhaps o-ring replacement) and a road hazard warranty.

Walmart is generally the least expensive at $12, but even they have a few add-on fees.

I did't proofread my typing. I meant to put 108 per tire. That is still way cheaper than anywhere else. I have been shopping around.

I dont trust people to mount my wheels with an impact wrench. I rotate my own tires every 5000 miles and they last a long time and wear smoothly.

Costco has them for $112/each after instant(?) $70 rebate
Tire Rack has them for $101.50/each after $70 MIR.

Might be able to get the $70 MIR with the Sears purchase too.
