Sears NexTec question

Someone gave me a 12V Li Ion Nextec impact driver new in the box, but it was just the tool. I'm looking at the cost of batteries and a charger now. Are the 12V Li Ion batteries and chargers for Nextec tools all interchangeable? I tried looking on the Sears website, but it has been down for nearly an hour here.

Thanks

Yes the 12v Nextec batteries are interchangeable and all the same. Sears/Craftsman hasn't released a new Nextec tool in years though, seems like they aren't committed to growing the line at all.

Agreed. The tools are hard to find on secondary markets. I picked up a set with batteries, charger, drill, oscillating tool, and auto hammer for around $60 at Sears. Right place at the right time.

That auto hammer is practically the only thing that shows up on eBay. The only good thing I ever did with mine is let my niece pound nails with it. She had fun.

All interchangeable. I have the impact, drill, fluorescent light(now discontinued) led flash light. I really like them. Use them daily with not one issue ever. The light is by far my favorite followed by the impact. I also use the c3 line as my more powerful tools and have held up great. No issues. And I have drilled through some VERY thick steel on semi trailers and box trucks mounting camera and back up sensors.

I have the hammer as well. Bought it new off ebay for $20. Did it for the battery. Used the hammer once. Never again, lol. I actually have the 2nd generation drill/driver that came with the quick boost charger. Thing is pretty decent for what it is and nearly impossible to find for a good deal on ebay.

I have the hammer as well. Decent for areas that are too small to get a full swing of a regular hammer. Not strong enough to drive in framing nails all the way.

This is confusing. I did the online chat with Sears Parts Direct today and asked if the model of Nextec Li ion impact driver I have is compatible with current Nextec Li ion impact batteries and the person said no. The model I have is the 320. 61189. They sure do look the same though.

I just checked mine and batteries all have same model number.

The battery is 320.11221 and just realized if you look at look label it reads what battery to use.

All my tool read on the label all to use same battery as stated above.

I have the heated jacket, impact driver, and drill.I use them quite abit with no problems. Really wish I could've got the right angle impact before they were discontinued.

So I thought I would post here rather then start a new thread. Recently got into nextec, not sure why but for some reason I am drawn to them. Probably because they are hard to find and I like to find treasures. So with a little craigslist and ebay horse trading I now have the drill, impact, right angle impact, rotary tool, adjustable hammer, fluorescent work light, led light, power adapter, led battery light and 4 batteries for about $50 total. Finding and trading the right angle impact seems to be the best way to get ahead. Amazingly people are happy to ship these things off craigslist or wherever you might find them.

Problem is I can't identify the power adapter and I haven't received it yet so I don't know the model number. It's not the same as the one currently posted on sears outlet or in pictures found around the net. If anyone has one of these or knows of some pics I would be interested to see them.

Oh and to the poster above me... I am looking for a very good condition heated jacket... xxl. I would trade a right angle impact for one!

It WOULD be cool if the new owners would revive Nextec. All it really needs is higher amp-hour batteries to put it back in the running. Supposedly the ones w the light on the bottom were 1.6ah and that’s as high as they went.

I still use a drill for repetitive deburring, it just fits my hand really well.

Anyway the only “power adapter” I know of came w the heated jackets. I don’t remember if I kept my Nextec holster as the best thing I ever did was run the jacket off M12. Still love my jacket, though. Warmest of any I’ve used. There were several generations, though - at one point they were just the “last year’s” Milwaukee. The Nextec w the hood is what I have & seemed unique to the line.

Yep that's got to be it. Would it have any use without the jacket I wonder.520c60724e01c1816dcfcae3df11b571.jpg

Yes, it's got a USB output.

I charge my phone every night on an M12 holster with USB output (M12 has either a bare-bones no-battery-gauge no-USB or a "fully loaded" with gauge and USB).

I was thinking about grabbing a Menards Masterforce power source since the Nextec ones are impossible to find. I got their work light and with some sanding it fits the Nextec battery perfectly. The amp ratings on the power source are much better then this power adapter and the 12v socket could come in handy. The plan is to pair it with the led battery light for a nice flashlight/charger. I found the battery light tossed on the bottom shelf next to the flash lights.... rang up @ $15 - $5 surprise points.

My only complaint with the nextec line is that the higher capacity batteries don't seem to hold a charge for very long.

Where do you get high capacity batteries? I thought I saw some generic ones on Amazon but I think they were for another 12v platform.

Incidentally I was wrong - the Nextec holsters do have a fuel gauge. It's a single light on the side that illuminates briefly when you insert the battery. You can also trigger it anytime by pushing a button. It lit green for me so it's a safe bet their coding is the same as the tools: just green, yellow or red for various states of discharge.

edit: it's completely visible in post #15. Duh.

The ones I saw on Amazon are b&d 12v. If they are like the Menards batteries it's just the angle difference where it hits the end of the tool.

Well, Nextec is pretty much done for. No tools available at all at Sears.com. You might find a fwe at stores here or there, but the obit is ready to be printed.

Which is a real shame because they were [{still are for me} a great lightweight tool with lots of uses for the DIY homeowner.

Love the right angle and regular impact for working on the car. I might have to use a long handled breaker bar for some bolts, but the impact removes them lickety split. I hardly ever use a plain ratchet any longer.

I have most of the tools, but am missing a few.

Inflater
hedgetrimmers

I haave 4 of the fluorescent lites, they are very bright, but only last about 20 minutes on a battery. Good thing I have like 10 batteries to keep everything charged.

I have about 5 of these tools, and 4 batteries. None of the batteries will take a charge now, so im at a loss as to what to do with these tools. I didnt use them very often, and its annoying to not be able to.

I have the Multi-tool, right angle impact, air compressor, palm sander, drill, and rotary tool. All are useless now. Sears near me doesnt carry them anymore, and they wont ship them either. Any ideas?

eBay? Funny I’ve been trying to sell one of the nextec hammers in its box with a battery and charger for $25, no takers. It’s prob worth it just for the battery and charger.

Ace still has batteries along with amazon or eBay and sears hometown.
If you want out you can probably get $450 out of what you have on ebay.

You have to store the batteries charged.

Glad to see a thread about my beloved Nextel tools. Just got back from my local Sears. While there, all I coul hear were crickets (there were no customers). I asked the salesperson where their Nextel tools were and he looked perplexed. He had no idea whT Nextel was and there were none on display.

It looks like the line is dead ... unless you can pick them up at True Value.

I scored today at a SearsHometown store.
Got a Nextec battery for $30, impact driver kit for $60, and palm jigsaw kit for $40.

That was all the items they had.

The main Sears store has a single display impact driver, but never any actual tools for sale. I asked last month if they would sell the display, no was the answer. How stupid, they are never going to get any other stock in.

Prices are getting crazy high on ebay.

I know this is an old thread, but just saw it. It truly is a shame Sears ditched Nextec. I got the drill, and impact when they first came out and have been using th m ever since.
I only have 2 batteries, but I have the drill, impact, right angle impact, and w new in box multi tool.
I had a DeWalt 18v drill, but I found myself reaching for the Nextec line way more frequently. Then, a year ago when I moved my DeWalt went missing. For the last year, in every home improvement project I've done, all I've had were my Nextec drill and impacts. Now that I've needed to replace the higher power tools and have picked up a couple M18 tools, I might have to switch to M12 in the near future.

I never was able to find the battery for mine. Sears was useless in the quest.

Coach

There are vendors on Amazon that sell the Nextec batteries, made by Sears Diehard, but they are pretty expensive. Some are selling for as much as $60.00 each.

There are also vendors on Amazon who sell aftermarket knockoff versions of the Nextec batteries that are actually pretty highly rated by the people who are verified purchasers.

Those aftermarket batteries cost about $39.00 each.

And there is always eBay for them as well.

I thought about Ebay, etc., but decided to put my money into a platform that was still available. I went with Ryobi, have several tools and have found them to be capable of doing whatever task I need.
