Another typical conservative idiot.

Come on, China is a communist country? Are you from Mars? I am not trying to defend for China, but I went to Taiwan and China many times. Let me educate you:

China was trying to use a communist model to develop its economy after it was founded in 1949. After several decades, they realized that it did not work at all. Then in 1978, they started extensive economic reform and began to follow capitalism. If you've ever been to China, you know how much more capitalistic they are compared to us.

Man, I recommend you to travel overseas whenever you can, you will realize how stupid those right-wing conservatives are. I mean not only in terms of foreign policy. You will realize how stupid people in other countries think we are, when they see the polls between Obama and McCain are so close. After all, it's an easy choice.

Sorry it is a littlbe bit harsh. Forgive me but I'm telling you the truth.

No, you're not.

China was not founded in 1949. The civilization dates back thousands of years. The People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, and is a Communist state. It shares this shame with Cuba, Vietnam and North Korea.

PRC human rights violations are legendary, and continue to this day.

Labor conditions are atrocious and exploitative.

Disregard for polluting the environment is second to none.

And you recommend the support of their inferior goods and inhumane policies. You may think it's the truth, but I say you are pathologically gullible.

Interesting since this is a three year old thread that got dug up.

No need to fight over it.

"China was not founded in 1949. The civilization dates back thousands of years. The People's Republic of China was founded in 1949" ---That's exactly what I meant.

China was a communist state in 1949. Then you can come to the conclusion that China is a communist state in 2008? BTW, a communist state's economy can grow at a rate of >10% per year? You still haven't seen the huge differences between China and North Korea even today? Did you watch the Olympics?

I know you will never believe me if you've never been to China. However, I agree with you on the damage the Chinese have done to the environment.

BTW, I can not imagine someone trust wikipedia so much, especially for politics. Do you know that actually everyone can edit it?

Yes, I can. China is about Capitalism for the ruling class and submission for the workers. Communism at it's modern best.

For those acting like they are the only ones who ever traveled. My wife is Asian. Been there done that. There is one country shown to the world, another one that is what reality is. There has been growth, part of it because of advantages on products that should be made there.

The other has been because of the temporary advantages a communist type of government has. If we put down as many strikes, demonstrations etc as they did, well. Media control helps. Even at the most sensitive sites I have been at here, there was a watching of others and the population very much like the old USSR.

Been there seen it, like it here much better as does so many in the world trying to get here. That has always said volumes to me.

thats not really communism is it?

No, it isn't. That's just how it always turns out, given the greediness of human nature.

Comrade Commissioner gets three whores, a limo, and a 401K.

Comrade Wrench-Polisher gets $2/week, dysentery, and a boot in the back for taking 30 seconds too long in the bathroom.

"Temporary advantage"? My friend, China has been developing at a rate of >10% for many many years. Did you ask yourself why North Korea does not have that kind of "temporary advantage"? Wake up. You do not need to wait another 10 years to realize that.

I'm not bragging, but I talked with Assistant Secretary of State --- Chris Hill last summer. Not surprisingly, he has the same feeling about the capitalism in China. When we were talking about what we saw in China, he also points out that most Americans know little about what's going on in other countries, especially for those countries that have long been classified as enemies by us.

I want to stop the debate here, or someone will be mad. After all this is a forum for tools not politics. Damn, my two hobbies are collecting tools and talking politics. How could they get together?

Apologies to anyone who might be offended!

I have never been to China but I have traveled extensively in Russia durring the mid 1990s. The people there were taught for years that capitalism was based on criminal exploitation of other people. It seemed to me at the time that many of the new capitalists there had taken this lesson to heart.
