$20 for a LaserTrac level doesn't seem like a bad price to me at all, especially with a digital readout to 1/10 of a degree supposedly.

I had to pay shipping for mine (not driving to DE to get one), but actually wasnt bad, $7 or so.

Hey, does it project a trac ON the wall or just shoot a dot somewhere?

Iam looking for something to hang some horizontal furring strip type stuff. If it shoots a level line on the wall, I would like it.

that's what i'm hoping it does, and believe it does, that's how the laser trac system in the saws work.

It's just a dot. You can still use it, just need a little marking jig that matches the offset of the laser dot from the base of the level. Put the level in place, turn the laser on, and as you lay the furring strip, put the marking jig on top of the furring strip....

I don't even understand what to do with a dot, and why it would be designed to just shoot a pinpoint? On another freakin' wall?

I just looked at the specs again and it says it throws a Digital Level line, so thats what I want it to do.

One more thing...look at the reviews before you buy. It seems you can't calibrate this model, which means if it's off it's useless (apparently sears doesn't repair or provide parts either). And the reviews confirm that some are off out of the box. The other criticism is the frequency of updates on the digital display is very low, so you have to wait a while before knowing whether the reading is accurate or not.

The laser comes out of the center of the leve, so your measuring twice to determine the placement of an object. I owned a sears laser level some time ago, not this model but still a laser lever. If the functionlity of the laser is as stated above; just a "dot" then the laser functionality is commensurate with my older model. IMHO, save your money and buy or build a water level for transfering height measuments. The laser sits above the surface your projecting so you have to project the point, mark it, then measure down from their.

Personally i think one would be better off to save their pennys for a product liike this...

I have a couple of those types of levels. But it would be nice to just hold a level on the wall and have a chalk line laid up for you in light.

The issue with the level you posted is that if you have to get 7-8 feet or more, my Tripod doesn't do that. I saw a Laser square that does this stuff. I just wanted to do it for $20!

I cancelled my order this morning. What a PITA that was. and I'm still not sure it was cancelled. Sears is absolutely incompetent in all matters of customer service IMO.

Keep in mind, this is Sears Outlet, a new separate company... so yea, even worse than normal sears, lol.

I cancelled mine yesterday too. I was on hold for 25 minutes before I ever spoke to a human. Other than holding, it was actually great service.

I tried cancelling mine Wednesday evening.

On hold about 30 minutes

Then the person tried to cancel order but couldn't because the store wasn't open! So I'm in about 40 minutes.

Told me to call back next day and try again.

Called in, on hold about 30 minutes again.

Got the person who now called the store it was ordered from.

On hold again for 20 minutes.

Took about 15 more to cancel.

Still shows processing on "My Profile" on the sears outlet website.

100 some odd minutes, typical sears...

Couldn't cancel by hitting the convenient cancel button in "My Profile" because it doesn't work, typical sears...

I received an email saying it was cancelled within 15 minutes of getting off the phone. I've had many struggles with sears before, but this one was actually not bad.
I say that, but in typical sears fashion, the level will probably still show up.
