Sears outlet refurbs

Every month or so I visit a friend who lives about 40 minutes away. Every time I go see him, I stop at three different Sears outlets. It just happens that there are three exactly on the way.

Never the less. Today all three of them had massive amounts of factory refurbished (with 1 or 2 year warranty, depending on brand) power tools. Mostly Bosch and Skil. Everything from circular saws to palm sanders and hammer drills. They also had LOTS of the Dremel multi-master (Fein knockoff) refurbished as well. Most of them were 60-70% off of retail.

Take your phone and scan the barcodes on the box with the Amazon app to see what the product is, because none of the boxes have any info minus the product code and a barcode.

If you aren't picky about what model, there are excellent deals to be had. I was eyeing a 5 inch random orbital sander from Bosch, for $20. That's harbor frieght money.

For those in AZ, the Gilbert location on ValVista had a bunch of the stuff mentioned above. No decent hand tools though.

I use to buy tons of tools from the Sears outlet stores in Memphis, Tn, about 90mi from where I live, I've gotten compressors, torpedo heaters, hand tools, etc etc in addition to clothing and housewares. Unfortunately all the outlet stores in Memphis were shut down a few years ago... Grrrrr

My local one never seems to ever get this kind of stuff. Its all ways new tools that didn't sell well or beat up tool boxes lol.

My local (Houston, Tx) store, which never has any serious tools at all is now carrying several of the refurbished Bosch tools, as of the last couple of days.

Over the year I have purchase a couple of Craftsman power tool refurbs. Never an issue.

The only Sears outlet I know of around here carries mostly "dollar-bin" junk tools. And I do mean junk. Very similar to a Harbor Freight. Some of the tools are not nearly worth a dollar. I quit stopping in, totally useless.

You gotta be cost conscious on what you are buying at the Sears outlet. Most times they discount the repaired stuff a percentage off full MSRP which usually gets many items down to what a new sale pricing is. Not much of a deal buying used at new sale prices.

True. Most of the outlet stuff is either scratch or dent, or just surplus new inventory.

I just picked up the Bosch refurbished circular saw over the weekend. If you are in CT the West Haven location has tons of those, Skil circulars, Bosch sanders and Bosch Laser Levels.

Thank you OP! I stopped by an outlet, that previously had nothing interesting to me, and they had Bosch and Skil stuff this time. I was happy that I picked up a factory refurbished Bosch variable speed random orbit sander for $30. They go for at least twice that new. I've been keeping an eye out for a decent sander for a while.

They had some other interesting stuff liked laser levels, but nothing I could afford.
