I don't have a model number handy but I have a late 70s /early 80s "sears best" saber saw it's the fatter body but shorter profile one.
Anywhere to get a new blade clamp?
This isn't the simple round collar with 2 allen head screws. This is the longer roughly d shape blade clamp. It's also taller than the collar with the 2 Allen's that were positioned 90* apart

With no model number or picture, it is hard to help. I would suggest eBay, or possibly BOYD if still US made. The model number may help understand who made it, and if it was made under other names as well.

Do a search for a manual then get the parts diagram and part numbers.

Another search may locate the parts once you have the numbers.

Very close. Same style blade clamp as I need.
I have one like the linked one as well, this one that needs a blade clamp is shorter and wider
And says "sears best" on it. I'll have to dig it out to see if the numbers are still there

Dig it out and show good pix of it, black and decker used to have a D shaped blade clamp and I do know they have made tools for Sears in the past. I used to work for B&D so I likly could identify it if that’s what it is.

if you can’t buy it, you may be able to make one

I have (still) the Sears Best version in the catalog page above; the blade clamp broke in 1984 when I was cutting a hole in a roof (through plywood and asphalt shingles ) to install a attic ventilator. I'm still going to make a die filer from it, really I am.
