I know this is a common thing, but wanted to post that I got $5 in free points on 2 emails today!

Now the real purpose of the post...
I managed to have 3 SYW accounts, wife signed up for one a long time ago and forgot. We signed up with a joint email a few months ago. I found the SYW card from wifes account, tried to set it up with my email and ended up creating a 3rd account..

In both our personal emails we received $5 on any purchase. Last week she got $6 and I got $4.. Our joint account both weeks has gotten $5 on a $15 purchase. The joint account is the one we used for all of our holiday shopping. Why does the account that gets used have a min purchase but the ones that are only used with FREE $ have no minimum purchase? Is it just a marketing thing, thinking that it will lure inactive members to use the account more?

Sometime in December we got a few free $'s on each account, spent 25 minutes waiting for orders to be gathered so I got 3 $5 coupons.. Pretty sweet deal, $5 in free points, use them, get another $5 coupon!
They also tried to fulfill an order that I had picked up weeks earlier. I notified the lady that I already had gotten the stuff and she took the items back, but didn't seem too alarmed by it. I can imagine a lot of people would have just walked away with a 2nd fulfillment. Seems like a bad way to loose money and inventory...

Sorry for long rambling, cold medicine in effect...
Long story short, check your emails for free money! I have been working on my precision Torq and screwdriver collection, paid $0.08 for 3 of them :D

Are you getting an email that you have to respond too in order to get the points? I am just seen extra points showing up in my account and no email.
But yeah I agree the points are great and I am using them to get my collection of tools too!

One thing I noticed the other day in the "fine print". You have to opt-in to the emails to get the free points offers. If you have opted-out or unsubscribed to the SYW emails, then you also have opted-out to any free points.

So check you email preferences in you SYW account. You might not have the check box checked for the promotional emails.

Thanks @EdJack that seems to be it. However I could have sworn I had done this, but all the boxes were unchecked. Thanks again!

Well, you're supposed to get an email notification for free Surprise points, but sometimes the offer is loaded to your account without the email being sent to you. (check your junk email folder, too)

The email may be required to explain any requirements to trigger the Surprise points. If you're lucky, you can get the type of Surprise points that they directly deposit into your points balance and you can just spend them at either Sears or Kmart on (almost) whatever you want.

they have an algorithm. been discussed here before. it's not the same for everyone. depends how much you've spent, how long since you've last visited/bought something, etc.

i usually spend the $5 on one of the small pro pliers, or screwdrivers, etc.

Can you tell me where the fine print is on the SYWR site? I do not see it .

Thanks

Check the spam folder too, mass mailed stuff can get tagged as spam.

Mine is $5 on $25+, nothing too tempting in the main store, but I may hit one of the Outlet stores next week.

SYWR free point offer required settings

Can you tell me where the fine print is on the SYWR site? I do not see it .

Well, HERE is the fine print, but here's my recommended settings:

SYW website:

1) Log into website
2) Click on your screen name at top
3) Choose 'Edit Settings'
4) Put your cursor over 'More' and choose 'Settings'
5) Click on 'REWARDS' from the left side
6) Make sure the 'Send Bonus Offers to my Email' box is checked

Sears or Kmart website:

1) Log into website
2) Put your cursor over your name at top-right
3) Choose 'My Profile'
4) Put your cursor over 'About Me'
5) Choose 'Contact Preferences'
6) In the SYWR section, make sure the following boxes are checked:
  • SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS promotional emails
  • Shop Your Way Coupons
  • SHOP YOUR WAY MAX
  • Both Craftsman Club boxes

Due to the erratic nature of this rewards program, I make no guarantee you will receive free point offers (or ones that you like).

Not sure it really matters what are your settings. Or if the 'algorithm' really works. For about the first 9 months of last year I kept getting $3-4 free SYWR points every couple of weeks. Sometimes I would get a couple days apart. Probably to the tune of $60+. Then it just stopped and now I get the occasional offer of $5 in points if I purchase $20+ in tools. No more free points. Guess they corrected the algorithm.

Thanks Ch3apsk8 I am on my Iphone now. Will try later on a computer. My local sears just announced this week the property was sold and the store will be closing in march. I talked to the manager yesterday and he has been there 2 years and was starting to see the store turn around to a positive direction

The sad thing was it on my way to and from work so it was little Effort to do a driveby for a quick pickup for one of those LocalDeals of something 1/2 price.

I got one for $6 in "surprise" points. Went in Sears today to pick up some CM Pro singles and noticed the Nextec battery with the light in the bottom was on sale for $25.99. Put the wrenches back and just got the battery for $14 after regular and surprise points.

Then...

The register printed off a bunch of coupons with my receipt. One was for $10 off $25 power tool accessory purchase. Went back and got another lighted battery for $15.99. These are $35 regular price and are 20% more powerful than the regular battery according to the box.

Havent figured out the exact details yet, but it looks like most Craftsman purchases over $50 gets you at least $10 in points back.

This tool set gets you over $20 in points back..

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-182-...0933182000P?prdNo=11&blockNo=11&blockType=G11

Over $50 gets $10 back, over $100 gets $20 back?

Also, in an email I got this morning...

TOOLS COUPON: Get $15 off

When you spend $75 or more on featured tools: Use code SAVE15

Anyone know if an "Automotive purchase" includes tools? They can and will be used on a automobile, so :dunno:

Received some free points but states on your next automotive purchase.

Nope. They got Tools, Lawn & Garden, and Automotive departments.

A tools coupon will work on a tire pressure gauge from Tools, but it won't work on a tire pressure gauge from Automotive. :headscrat

To add to the confusion: the website has batteries listed under Tools, but a tools coupon does not work on them.
