Sears Triple Discounts - Expired on 3/11/09

Sears Triple Discount Deal Details

I checked on a few Craftsman tool prices today and saw that several additional discounts and coupons were stacking. I posted details and links via this ToolGuyd post.

After the discounts stack, certain items are priced lower than I have ever seen them! 31% off the BB chest I wanted!

Now the only thing I need is a cover story. "No Honey, these new tools aren't for me, they're your birthday present. If you don't want them, I could use that wrench set..."

I've been digging deeper, and it seems that the eligible product categories might have been reduced. I cannot be certain though, as I it could be Monday's blanket 10% off promo that I have in mind.

In any case, I edited the ToolGuyd post slightly to describe which categories were eligible for triple discounts and which were only eligible for either the Buy More Save More or Auto Tech Event discounts + the coupon.

What type of product did you encounter the problem with?

In the past, it was 0-5% and lucky me it came to be 0% when I placed some larger orders. I wish it was possible to know where on the 2-8% scale tool purchases fall. Cashbacks from various sites never stack unless there is a serious unprecedented system bug.

Personally, I'd recommend purchasing via the banner or links on ToolGuyd since orders through those links help support ToolGuyd and we're currently trying to collect funds for a tool giveaway. Objectively, the cheaper the bottom line price, the better!

I see that the Hobart Handler 187 at Sears now comes down to $526.49 excluding tax but with free shipping. Can it get better than this from other sites?

tks

I only spent a few minutes searching, but it looks as though $526.49 is a phenomenal price. It looks like most reputable retailers are offering the Hobart Handler 187 w/o the small cart for $650-$680 and up.

I don't think you can do much better than that. I think I know of a $25 off $300 coupon if you use a Visa card, but in the past it has overrode any other coupon. Since 10% > $25, I'm not going to look for it.

You won't get better than that on the HH187 unless you get an A grade refurb. Those go for just a little over $500 and are brand new, but with a recon badge. These are the welders that were purchased and returned but never used. They are MINT.

I did a 5% live, 5% discovercard, 10OFFMARSAVINGSD, one day 10%, but looks like the $199+ 10% only counts the portion over $199. Passing for now. No idea if the two %5 actually stacked.

Are you sure? Take a look at the screenshot I linked to in the post.

The first deduction is the coupon, then the Auto Tech Event discount, and then lastly the Buy more Save More.

10% of $190 is $19
10% of $171 is $17.10
10% of $153.9 is $15.39

Final price: $138.50, exactly as Sears.com shows it. The calculations for the two other items shown in my sample cart work out as similarly.

Looks like welding equipment don't qualify for this discount.

Woohoo, thanks for the info. I just ordered the 5 drawer BB, griplatch chest. I'm glad I passed on yesterdays deal. I got that, a metric hansen socket tray and a set of 5 precut drawer liners for $305 including tax!!

There's a little jingle playing in my head right now. It's going "Stuey's stimulating the economy, stimulating the economy..."

Glad I could be of service. =)

I can't get all of the discounts to work anymore. I can get the 10% off with 10OFFMARSAVINGSD but can only get the buy more save more on any single item over $150 and I don't see the Auto Tech Event discount anymore either. Am I the only one or has it stopped working?

It looks like the Auto Tech Event promo has expired. Some promos previously expired at 1am EST. I speculate that perhaps since daylight savings ended, the deals now expire at 12am.

I was very tempted to get this yesterday. If I had not just bought a new bike last weekend it would most certainly be on it's way to me.

On a side note, one of the local farm store sells this for $629 and once in awhile they will have a 25% off anything in the store coupon which will put it at $471.75. The next time I see this it will be mine.

I'd say my problem was that some items were not included in one or more of the promotions. Sears bumping the price up from $149 to $159 on the main item made me still skip it.

Wrong. I had a top box and some tools in my cart at 9:30. when I went to check out at 10:20, they were not eligible for the last 10% off. I tried and tried, but there was no way to get it back. I didn't need them that badly, and losing that last 10% broke the deal. Too bad, with all of the discounts and the sale on the top box, it was $240 for almost $400 of merchandise. Oh well...

Like I said, it was speculation. So you're saying that the deal expired at about 10pm or so?

Thanks for the information picked up a $1400 toolbox for $750. Boy the local store manager wasn't happy about the price and is giving me a slight hassle because it has to be ordered.

10pm central time. Didn't make my day.
That's pretty strange. Sorry that you missed out.

If it's any consolation, there were plenty of deals that I missed out on, half of which were because Sears.com is evil. One minute I would be finalizing my order. A few minutes later, credit card in hand, I would look horrified after all discounts disappear.

If the fictional entity Skynet existed, it would live on the Sears.com servers and that's where it would hone its misanthropic mentality.

As per my "FYI" thread, there will be another 10% off blanket sale on Saturday. At worst, it should stack with the 10% coupon, at best, the "Buy More Save More" deal will stack as well.

The current Buy More Save More is scheduled to end on the 13th, but I think it might be extended until the 21st.
