Double check your invoice online. I ordered a bunch of flex sockets. It showed the sale prices all the way through the process. After getting a confirmation number I printed an order summary. It showed everything at full price. :wtf: Was on hold with customer service for a 1/2 hour while someone tried to fix it- then the phone system dumped my call.

Thanks for the heads-up....Gonna check now...

Well, I just put an order in for a few misc sizes of sockets I was missing that that might prove useful. Only 1 of which was over $7 in price, but I still got the discount on that one. Did not seem to work on impact sockets.

I had a few 1/4" drive small metric sockets that were regularly priced below $3.33 each, and while the cart showed them as discounted an additional little bit, upon attempting to check-out it wanted to INCREASE the price to $3.33 each. I'll just get those later.....

Double checked....All of mine were priced from $7.49 - $8.49... now they're all priced $3.33. Seems like the order is okay...

I just ordered a few deep metrics to fill in the gaps in my set. The "deal" worked for me just fine. Thanks for posting up about this!

I finally got it to work too, although I gave up trying to hit $100 to get the free shipping on sockets alone. I ended up adding the KD brake bleeder and a 80th aniversary fender mat that was %50 off.

I order some big deep sockets, and the flex sockets from 10mm-18, and some other sockets to fill in my hansen trays. Oh, and I ended up getting 4 of the gator grip things. I figure for 3 bucks people will get them at christmas...

The big thing will be if the phone order I placed for the 3/4 drive sockets goes through at the discount price, or if they'll try to screw me.

One night online only, yup I am guessing they are REAL glad its over too.

I am still waiting on pickup email, one socket was 3-4 days delay for in store pickup.

This morning I got eight identical e-mail messages telling me my sockets are ready to be picked up. I really hope I was not charged eight times. I guess I should check my credit card.

I finally got an order to work last night for some metrics I needed. I got the conformation email after I finished the order. Today when I check my orders it says the socket order is complete and I still have an open order for the 3 cent pliers stating ready in 15-20 days. I have not picked up or received any sockets so I am wondering why it's complete? Maybe my plier order will still go through though.

Man, that really chaps my ***. Where was the notification about the sale? How did they advertise it?

It was a small link kind of near the middle of the tool page. You did not miss much though. Most sockets would not go through at the sale price despite the link stating ALL sockets.

I got 5 emails just after noon the next day, order confirmation, and four copies of a pickup notice that only had 4 of the 5 items I ordered, still missing 8mm universal.

Lame. They should have email-advertised it, especially to people who regularly shop on Sears.com...

That really pisses me off. :(

All the stuff I had in my cart was not available for pickup, so I had it shipped... I figured for $6 I might as well save gas. All the stuff was shipped yesterday and it's in transit.

Sorry kythri...you gotta get on GJ.COM more often. :) I know the feeling. I've missed out on many deals like this before.

What do you guys think is the best way around these issues? Would stickying the thread help? Let me know, cause I could do that. Kind of like a "tool deal alert" for members...

A sticky wouldn't hurt, as long as they were taken down when the deal is over, so that it doesn't diminish the importance of other stickies...

Too bad there wasn't a way to send an email out... :) I check that more than this website (yes, I'm a heathen).

Sears: There is a Difference™ - in the service.

You're darned-tootin' there is.

7-day a week, convenient walk-in service, quality tools for low prices (no need to get a second mortgage/sell your kidney/promise your first-born child), no-questions-asked/no proving you're the original buyer exchanges, and no uppity driver/salespeople who act as if they're doing you a favor selling you their wares.

Sears rocks all over the place!

My guess is somebody inside Sears is shocked as hell that a small one night only web based promo stirred up so many sales. The whole point of it is that it is TARGETED marketing, a sale that moves product, but doesn't put a dent in normal sales or trigger price matching.

Places on the net like fatwallet.com do nothing but track and report on hot deals, but its not a cheap place to visit, you get sucked in buying all sorts of junk. One deal junkie joke is, have you ever paid your rent in rebate checks?

My gripe is that the tagline stated ANY three sockets for $10. Clicking on it took you to the socket listing on the website, which showcased lots of high-priced sockets that were obviously not included in the promo.
If there were any conditions limiting it to only sockets priced below $**, I never saw it (and I did look for the fine print).
As I see it, "any" means "ANY" in the absence of any such disclaimer.

The only disclaimer I recall was Open Stock, but I don't remember if it also said Sears, or Craftsmen or anything like that. Clicking through the Banner notice many things like the SK sockets were "out of stock", but it allowed the big sockets I selected at first. Only later when I made direct searches for a 27mm and got reg and impact in normal and long did it get funny not allowing some.

You really can't expect them to give away the store based off a poorly worded web notice.

OTOH I had a lot of sets show up, anybody try and add 3 socket sets?

***** In store pickup.
I should have just had them shipped. I removed 3 sockets from my cart I sort of wanted when they were not available for in store pickup any place local. I ended up ordering 5 sockets and paid for them. Next day I got confirmation of the order, and later a pickup notice, but only for 4 of the 5. I printed that and went into the store today, and they only had 3, so I went over and looked through the sockets myself.

Turns out I must have been sloppy ordering, the two missing sockets were flex 3/8 drive 8mm and flex 1/4 drive 10mm, and I thought I was getting all 3/8 drive. I found a 3/8 drive 10mm and a 1/4 drive 8mm, and guess what, substituting those items was totally beyond the dept managers capacity. It seems they could pull up my pickup order, which was missing the 3/8 10mm, but could not see my entire order for 5 sockets. I decided not to make their brains explode and left with just 4 sockets, hopefully next week I will get a pickup order for the missing 1/4 drive 10mm (which I decided I liked better than a 3/8 anyway).

It said "any 3 open stock sockets".

Of course not; but I would expect a company with the experience and reputation of Sears to proofread their promo offerings.

I would imagine that any special offers and promos in their print advertisements are approved by the legal department before being finalized...but it seems their web department is run by a bunch of high school kids.

My order says it's been shipped for 4 days but the tracking info at UPS says billing information received check back later. Also still have a open plier order.
