Hello everyone, I am new to the forum...I went through a bunch of topics already lots of great info here. I am glad I joined.

Well I have a craftsman 1/4 inch drive ratchet. Purchased about a year ago and the gears were not catching so I took it back to get a replacement. Lady behind the register said no problem, but the only problem was she handed me another rather that she grabbed from under the counter that was inside this clear container filled with tools. The ratchet she tried to give me was used very noticeable. I just just refused to accept that and requested that I get a new one from the shelf. She agreed. Weird.

The bad part... the people doing the rebuilds are not very skilled. I would rather be given a rebuild kit do do myself. I also have a ratchet that "slips". It's actually on my todo list of things to take apart... I love taking things apart...

It depends on the location. If it's in the middle of no where better chance of it being replaced with a new tool. My Sears has to order it in because how small if an inventory they have.
