I'm considering a big (to me) purchase of some Milwaukee battery tools. I know around father's day there are usually a ton of sales at HD/Lowes are these sales actually good deals typically? Is there a good time of year to buy? for example I know that Memorial day is a good time to buy appliances from the big box stores, I have no idea why that happened but good sales happen on appliances then. Any similar time for tools?

Subscribe to their daily emails and deals of the day. Look early because some of them are limited quantities. HD deal of the day starts at 0300 hours and sometimes by 0400 they are sold out of an item.
Some of these deals are package deals also- 2-3 tools, charger, batteries etc.

Keep your eyes out during the holidays and look for any steeper than usual discounts. Usually the discounts are insignificant.

HD lets you sign up for a "Deal of the Day" email. I get it, it's not obnoxious and just takes a few seconds to look at. I expect they'll have their Father's Day deals listed.
A HD Father's Day deal got me started on my Makita collection. They have been pushing Milwaukee lately, so I expect good deals will come up. Know what model you are getting. If the price seems low, it's probably the low-end model.
