Metal walls in shop 2 large and 1 small (the rest in wood/hardi plank) and would love to get a quote on spray foam over metal but can't seem to find anyone in this area ?

I read somewhere that you may need to use a primer on the metal to prevent a reaction with the foam.
I got a quote on foam for a new house - 3 levels 2x6 framing, etc. I nearly fell off my chair. He wants $42k!!!! I told him I'd be doing it myself with fiberglass and maybe some foam to seal the seams.
Well I can't give you a referal I can say it is a lot more than regular insulation.
I have 2 quotes one was for $1200 and the catch was he won't do a job for less than $1500. The other quote was for $900. This was for a garage that is
650 sq ft. This is for the walls only and does not include the ceiling.

You need to look at the metal. If there is an oily film from manufacturing or anything on the metal it may prevent adhesion of the foam. If the metal is clean you should have no trouble, we spray foam on metal buildings all the time.
As far as the pricing goes it seems to be all over. $42K that is either a pretty big house or a very greedy contractor. Most houses we do are half that or less, but we occasionally do the $100K and up houses!
We have a $1500 minimum as well. Basically it costs a lot of money to haul the rig to a jobsite. Pay for the fuel and labor. Even if it only takes 4 hours, it is unlikely you could get another job done, so you have to pay for a full day to the laborers.

I got 2+ inches of closed cell foam for $2 sq.ft. I had ~1600 sq. ft. There is a minimum of 2 inches. Some areas more. The contractor I used was found at.http://www.sprayfoam.com/cdps/majorcat.cfm?cid=7&maj=Contractors
I don't know about their spray foam pricing, but I just recieved a quote from Gale Contracting (Masco company) to insulate my new building, and the full quote came in considerable cheaper than I can buy the materials at lowes for. I'll end up paying about $1.25/sf by the time it's done. (I'm talking square feet of floor space, not wall space.)

I did a "spit take" when the spray guy gave me a price for the walls of my 40'X40' yesterday. 2" for $6000+ or 3" for $8000 +. Yikes. I tried to act all cool after hearing the price, but I think I stammered around a lot.
