The guy selling it says it’s a 10x24 made in the 50’s. I haven’t even heard of this brand but little bits I have found indicate it may be a nice lathe, assuming it’s post-Bernard acquisition of them. Can anyone help me confirm a date, and/or any big red flags, or knowledge of these lathes? They’re asking $2000, but I think there’s still room to negotiate. Comes with collets, 3-jaw, 4-jaw, dividing head, lots of small tooling.
Biggest red flag I can see from the pics is the chowdered compound tool rest.
Thanks for any input!

In a place where I once worked our engineering crew had to send out ventilator shafts to be machined because their lathe was too small. I found a surplus Sebastian from WWII (it had made gun barrels) for them at a depot where it had been sitting outside in the rain for months. They got that monster running and turning those shafts in no time. The engineer told me that old machine was so tough nothing could hurt it. If that one is any indication you have a fine machine there. Sebastian made good stuff so if the ways are not trashed everything else is fixable. Good luck !

So it’s been a long time coming, but I finally get to look at this tomorrow! Any other input advise, things I should look for?
Thank you!

I don't believe I see a taper attachment. They're usually pretty significant fixtures on the back of the carriage.

Doc.
