Adding an enclosed lean to off the side of my existing pole barn which already has a sub panel installed. And I am wanting to add a second sub panel in the new lean to. Is the second sub panel run identical to the first sub panel minus the grounding rods since it will be in the same building?
Thank Jared

Possibly. If the existing sub panel was installed prior to the 2008 code, it might have a three wire feed with a bonded neutral. It might have a four wire feed with an isolated neutral. Regardless of what the existing panel has, the new sub panel will require a four wire feed with the neutral isolated from the ground. You are correct that ground rods will not be required.

Existing sub panel is wired with 2224 mhf from the main panel with two grounding rods at the sub panel
