Although it was a bit difficult to figure out a suitable gift for my chosen member, I had a good time. I'd definitely do it again!

Are you allowed to give some of the great HF stuff like the items in the "pass fail" thread that are clearly allways a Pass?

You are allowed to give whatever gift it is in your heart to give, that you think another member would appreciate.

Anyone who complains about something given in the genuine spirit of the season is a Grinch.

I'd personally like to see the post count much higher than it was before.

Here is last years thread........................

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46603&highlight=secret+santa

And the thread showing what everyone got last year...................

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51343&highlight=secret+santa

And the rules from last year.

OK,

Tis the season again. For those who are new this year to the board, welcome to the 2009 GJ Secret Santa for Senior Members. We had a great time last season and hopefully this year will be even better.

Link to Last Year's Secret Santa Thread

How to be involved:

1. Post here that you are in, then send me a PM with your name and address.

2. On the 28th of November at 8PM EST I will gather all the participants names and put them in a hat and draw random names. Secret Santas are not reciprocal, meaning the member you are Secret Santa for is not necessarily your Secret Santa (Completely random, but it may happen). By 10 PM EST I will PM you back with who you are the Secret Santa for.

3. You should try to have your Secret Santa Gift to your member by the 20th of December.

4. Mark your parcel in some way with Secret Santa so the member doesn't inadvertently open it. It is OK to include your name in a place so when the package is opened on Christmas, the person can know who it was from.

5. When you get your package, post a pic of it by the tree, upside down tree, menorah or what have you.

6. If you participate, you must be willing to ship to our overseas members.

7. When you get the name of your member, it may be helpful to review his posts and find his likes and dislikes. This can be exhausting and difficult, but it makes it part of the fun!

8. There is no monetary limit, but would suggest to stay under around $30.00. You can send somebody something new or used, or even something you made yourself!

9. When Christmas day comes, we post what our Secret Santas got us.

10. This is open to Senior members (over 100 posts) as of the last day at 8pm on the 28th of November.

I will periodically list members who are participating and put an asterisk next to their name if I have their info. If you don't have an asterisk by your name, then I don't have your contact info.

Lets roll

I was so bummed that I didn't participate last year, I actually picked up my first SS item for this year back in February and have been adding ideas and items to my list ever since!

I'm definitely in!

A GJ Secret Santa exchange. Best news I've had all day! What will they think of next, a pyramid sales scheme for tools, complete with consultants, parties, and guilt trips?

Now to scheme about what to get, something German, I'm thinking. Or something vintage? Or something German and vintage.

I'm definitely in.

I'm in. My gift will have to be sent from online to get there in time though. I should be home for Christmas to report what sweet doodads I got.

And for people maybe not to let **** from last year poison this year. No sense in that.

Of course. Just a suggestion. Just trying to avoid any bad apples from spoiling things.
