Had two trusses engineered to hold up canopy for truck or aluminum boat and looking at unistrut and so far not finding anyway to attach to bottom of trusses? Wanting to go over the top of bottom cord of truss which is 2x8 and attach to the unistrut on the bottom ? At this point looking at options that are secure? Thanks

Put these on top of truss and run threaded rod to the unistrut.

How much load are you talking here? I've never had to attach Unistrut to wood trusses. All of Unistrut connections that I can recall from their catalogue are to steel. I've designed some specialized connections for Unistrut to concrete joists and even hollow core concrete planks. This Unistrut has always been for ceilings, mechanical ducts, sprinkler lines, lights, etc. This is all the P1000. They do a make a P5000 series. Much stronger.

Not sure I would use Unistrut for a primary canopy structure, but I don't know what you are doing.

Yes a pickup shell / canopy or 12' drift boat ? I've seen unistrut used in many applications supporting mechanical devises, so as long as the numbers are good I think it's a good solution for this.

So neither is very heavy.
4 points to hang from a I'd imagine that both of these items can be hung from the same points as the size is similar.
Can 2 guys move this boat?
Where I'm going is why not 4 short nylon lifting slings over these engineered trusses, a Clevis bringing them together at their "eyes" and a ratchet strap or rope grab/pulleys to the load for lifting?
No collection of hardware, fasteners and concern about fastening and completely movable and removable.

Any 1/4" or 5/16" wood construction screws will hold it.

Just screw up through the unistrut into the truss. A pickup shell is nothing!

I have an overhead hoist in my garage screwed up into the trusses, (I have floor trusses in part of the ceiling) I have hung 2,000 pounds from the hoist.

I use to store a 500# 18' sailboat suspended from the trusses in my garage. I laid a 2x4 on top of the bottom cord perpendicular to the trusses spanning 3 or so at each pick up point to spread the load a bit. I used an eye bolt w/large diameter washer and nut through the 2x4 at each pick up point and attached a block to run the lifting rope through. With 6 sailboats I had plenty of nice blocks laying around.
Personally I wouldn't screw a lag bolt into the bottom of the truss and hang something from it.

What does the uni-strut get you? Are the trusses not the right distance apart? Jack stand has a good idea. I was thinking a 3/8 bolt through the top half of the 2x8, a piece of steel 1/8x1 maybe 8 inches long w/ a 3/8 hole near each end. You end up w/ maybe 2 inches of 1/8x1 steel hanging below the 2x8 to hook whatever you want to.
